Edit - Nevermind, Edsal does make Muscle Rack, will contact them, thanks for the info. Hopefully I can still get something since it's been over a year since the recall.
The shelves on these are particleboard, and they will sag over time.
Costco [costco.com] carries the 77" x 24" x 72" for $300 online (I think $280 in store), but it goes on sales for around $250 in store from time to time.
599085 was the SKU I have, these are Edsal not Whalen.
The great thing about these units is that you can take multiple units and extend them - e.g. 2 units with 4 shelves/ea you can steal 1 shelf from each kit, put the 2 kits side by side and span the gap with the other shelves. I did this in my garage and basement to extend my units and have more sq ft shelving space.
Bad reviews on that one…

Dang what happened. I swear these were like $150-$180 on sale before

They are and will, but those with a black coating are better than the raw wood ones. In climate controlled areas like inside a house, they are decent.

In the shop, we have replaced every shelf with 3/4" marine plywood because that is what we have a lot of. 1/2" OSB or plywood would be fine. If you are going to load these to even half rated capacity, you will need to beef them up with a 2 x 4 flat inside the front and even the back lip of shelf that otherwise will bow out.
That Sam's deal [samsclub.com] for 48" x 18" x 86" and six shelves for $59 is the better deal.... I need to go back and Rep that poster... That is the deal that needs posted.
(48" x 18" x 86" with six shelves.)
Doesn't hold as much weight, but that doesn't matter to me
You can claim the recall on all of them and they will pay you back. I got a huge check from them
I can't imagine putting 3600lbs on the Sam's, let alone 4,000lb on the OP.... That is up there with pallet racking and even half of that, you better have it solidly anchored to wall.
