Austin, TX has been on my top three list for places we have offices and I want to live since I started with the agency five years ago... I really hope it works out, I have friends there, I could take some grad classes, even my mom thinks I'd be happier laugh out loud
Austin is supposed to have great food and music scenes from what I have heard.

there's a certain beauty to Nevada, but it's also seriously altered my perspective on 'middle of no where', having grown up in the midwest and moved from the east coast laugh out loud

on the positive side, the joshua trees are just awesome to look at:

Scratchchin I think that's the opposite of what you need

Damn, now that's cool.

Guess it's somewhat easy to take good scenery pics there seeing as how you can probably stop and park right in the middle of the road to get your shots. I mean, it's not like you have to avoid the traffic Stick Out Tongue

Speaking of cows. DH was driving and I was looking around, like usual. For the first time, I seen a cow piss. Shocking My gawd, it just never ended. That was the scariest thing I ever seen. Doh Why did I even type this?
EEK! laugh out loud For my amusement!

I once saw a cow eating outside its fenced in area. But it had its head under the last row of barbed wire in such a position it looked hung.
Not hung as in Man, he is hung..But hung in that its head looked hung-trapped in the wire.

So here I am driving by in a convertible with the top down and look over and see these "huge big brown cow eyes" peering up from under that barbwire and thought - My God that cow has its head hung and is looking at me for help. By the time I turned around and got back it had of course moved on to greener pasture inside its fence..
But those cow's have tricks! I'm feelin ya.

indeed. biggest challenge on that road is watching out for Cattle and Antelope (we saw about five of them, along with thousands of cattle). and if you get to far off that road to the south, men in black SUVs with heavy weapons come pay you a visit (it's just north of Area 51, and is the closest public road to Groom Lake)

also, Lake Tahoe is hands down one of the most gorgeous places on the planet Faint

it's impossible to take a bad picture there

Oh hell yes there are. One of my cousins was owed some money by a friend when he was younger and he took a goat in exchange for the debt. Damned thing was psychotic and would headbutt everything.

funny how almost all of the national parks are out west, and are still quite remote from most everything....

I've never, ever, known darkness in the night like my night in death valley Hide I was afraid to even go out and explore the roads, without a travel companion and no cell coverage, I just took it in from the hotel parking lot.
