Each to their own, but for bolt cutters, I would buy bolt cutters that are rated for more than 1/8".

Now, this style in angled head, with or without spring and without the available recess are a useful tool for cutting close, prying out, etc.

From the product description, "Easy cutting of any wire up to 1/4-inch."

They're likely decent for cutting upholstery hog rings, but for that task, I would really prefer a spring opening cutter.

These came out as wire cutters and not sure when/where they were coined 'bolt cutters.' For soft wire like copper/aluminum, they will cut up to 6mm, but even with a large hand milker grip [1], one handed will get old pretty quick. For hardened SS bolts and similar, about 3mm is it without abusing the tool.

Cutting capacities soft wire (diameter)
Ø 6 mm
Cutting capacities medium hard wire (diameter)
Ø 5.2 mm
Cutting capacities hard wire (diameter)
Ø 4.0 mm
Cutting capacities piano wire (diameter)
Ø 3.6 mm

This decent for steel wire mesh for small concrete pads? I need to do a few pads for mini split units.

Watched it, but the question i would have is, what is an average hand strength, its obviously isn't 300 or 400 foot pounds...
