Great price. It's nice to see prices going down. New chips should be coming soon.
Better off going for the 5600 non X from microcenter. Its $40 less but you're only losing a few % in terms of total performance combined with slightly less power draw and slightly lower heat on the 5600 non X. You can also use that coupon on the 5600 thus making it EVEN CHEAPER lol... Most ppl aren't close enough to a microcenter to warrant the small difference in cost. With how expensive gas is these days.... This gets delivered right to your door.
Love MSI. 4 rigs all running some level of AMD. Highly recommended! Just match your RAM correctly and BIOS, you'll never be happier.

Second the MSI B550 Tomahawk! Great board

Huh? 5000 series is the last CPU for AM4.

Outside of low-end offering, the price delta between the two platforms is almost nothing.
I mean yeah AM4 is 'ending' but that intel chip still will run hotter and only has about half the cache the AMD chip does. At least AMD getting a new socket is reasonable, we've had AM4 for 5+ years now? Intel putting a new socket out for every new CPU they release is dumb and just a way to take more of your money.

One can probably make an argument, that building an AM4 rig is easier than building an intel rig. B450, b550,x570, maybe even a b350 with a bios update can run most am4 cards.

That's not even a debate, it's a fact. I have a B350 Tomahawk from like 2017 and its running a 5600X. If I bought a CPU from Intel in 2017, I would have had to wait two generations of sockets before getting to Alder and Raptor lake CPUs.

There is also hope that AMD might release the 5600X3D which would be a very capable budget gaming chip.
