based on reviews it seems to be the fastest drive with some of the lowest idle power consumption. It's also one of the newest drives, so it makes sense it would beat out some of the previous top drives (WD SN850 and Samsung 980 Pro). Like many, I was in the market for a 2TB high performance SSD and was going to go with one of the two aforementioned drives but luckily I found out about this SK Hynix drive and decided to go with this one instead. Reviews are pretty favorable.
Fantastic price for quite possibly the best gen4 nvme drive you can buy. Not sure why this had been voted down.
This is a solid deal. It's $50 more than their pcie 3 p31 gold drive which I bought. I think $50 increase is reasonable for their pcie 4 version. 👍

I would buy this instead but my laptop only supports pcie 3

What exactly makes it the best, out of curiosity?

would this still require a heatsink for ps5 due to better heat efficiency?

How does this drive compare to the 2TB SK hynix Gold P31 PCIe NVMe M.2 Gen 3 Solid State Drive for $169? Is there much of a difference been gen 3 and gen 4?

3500/3200mb read/write vs. 7000/6500 read/write so literally twice as fast and Gen 4 is newer technology

Definitely *one* of the best. The XPG 2TB GAMMIX s70/s70 blade has SLC (Hynix reports this SSD uses TLC - specs here [skhynix.com]), has slightly higher throughput and has been on sale recently for $189.99/$199.99, respectively. The SK Hynix Platinum P41 also does not come with a heatsink and is rated at 1200TBW (s70 is rated at 1480TBW / s70 blade up to 2960TBW for the 4TB version - see specs here [xpg.com] and here [xpg.com]). Both come with a 5yr warranty.

I would not personally bother for PC use.

It is more future proof as well. If someone was building a new PC, get the Gen 4. If not or just upgrading current SSD on a Gen 3 system, get the Gen 3.

Agreed, both drives are fantastic and you couldn't go wrong with either.
