Y'all are wild using your sprinklers indoors. You got your kids doing the slip and slide down the hall? Watering all your fake plants? 👏👏👏
I have this and the app sucks

I've had this for a year and a half or so and for the most part I've been happy with it. However, recently the Smart Watering has gone derpy. It's basically only watering the same two zones every single day.

I've tried turning off Smart Watering completely, tried cycling through the zones, tried setting the moisture levels to 0 for the other zones and 100 for the two that keep getting watered, etc. Nothing is working and I'm not really sure why. I probably need to spend some time going through their support forums or contacting them directly, but at this point I just set up manual watering programs. If nothing else, at least I can still control it from my phone and it will still override the manual programs if it's supposed to rain.

Anyone else seen odd behavior like this?

Yes. I think they also have a 4 zone version also, but with the 8 zone it can handle up to 8 zones. You just won't add the other zones when you're setting them up in the app.

I wouldn't personally buy anything from Orbit. Bought this last year, it only worked for a few months before it no longer functioning correctly. Horrible customer service with trash application with trash units.

I've had the four zone for over a year and love it. It's great to test/replace sprinklers without having to run to the garage. Only issue I've had is the forecast has called for rain almost every day lately so I've had to run it manually to compensate when it's actually been dry.

i'm surprised your thing is still running. Smart Watering never worked out of the box for me, and it has stopped watering period yet the app was reporting otherwise. I own a Android and its app is straight garbage. College students project can do better than this piece of junk they prolly paid less than 500 dollars from a single Indian developer to make one.

i have 9 zones currently.. is it possible to combine 2 zones into 1 just by wiring 2 zones into 1 ? would it carry enough currents and water to those zones if you just do the wiring?

When they say indoors, do they mean that this unit can only be connected indoors? I have an old orbit that i would love to switch out with this one but it's an outdoor unit… thanks!
The unit is not weatherproofed to be outside. You can put it in a covered box like this but they are expensive:

I was able to reuse my old irrigation controller case since this unit is small but the power supply is quite large.

Yes, that will work - but, be aware that your zones were likely setup based on water pressure/flow/number of heads. Something to keep an eye on running multiple zones at the same time.

From googling, the device can handle it, but water pressure may be an issue.

Software is terrible and the companies repose is pretty nonexistent. Sprinklers ran two days while it was freezing, orbit brushed it off on the first day, happened again the next day... I don't trust the system and orbit wouldn't make a bug for the developers to address.... seems like they don't update the crappy software.

Dang, I've got 9 zones, and it's two of these, or $110 for the 10-zone.

If you have two zones that don't use a lot of water (ex. 2 heads on each zone) - you can consolidate two so they run at the same time. There are also newer head options that use significantly less water and can typically run 6-8 per zone.

One option is to get two of these and wire the 9th zone to the second controller. Not ideal, but it can be done.

As others have mentioned - electronically it's not an issue. If you have two zones that don't use a lot of water and you have good pressure/flow delivered to the manifold, you should be able to get away with it. Typically garden zones are most likely to combine without having issues. You can also look into the MP rotator (or similar options from many brands) nozzles which use less water than traditional rotor and run for longer period of time.

Does this thing even have a way to manage your stations manually from the box itself? If the wifi is out or whatever? I know it will continue to run the programs, but what if I don't have connectivity to it and I want to change some things? The 12 zone one I have is great, and it has a full manual interface as well, dials and a screen. Assuming that's not possible with this?
