FYI for anyone who has a current wells fargo credit card - for most of their older cards you can do a product change over to this card instead. I just did this so I can move away from my old 1% cash back card to upgrade to this. You don't get the sign up bonus but all of your credit limit, age of account and all transfers over with it.

Here's my plan. My local utilities allow extra payment. 500 to electricity, 500 to water, 500 to etc and set up the CC to pay monthly to finish before APR is up and free 300 dollars
in fact i've got medical bills anyway

I got approved too. One thing I noticed in the terms is that can't use for prepaid gift cards, monthly or annual fees. I'm sort of wondering if something like Netflix can do or monthly water bill and still go towards the points promo.
I aprplied for the FNBO which is also a straight up 2 percent cash back.
Yeah, I'm gonna do that one next. There is also Bread Financial which has a 2% AMEX card but the company has pretty crappy ratings and no signup bonus.
I have the Citi Double Cash and to be honest, I kind of hate it. For starters I wouldn't call it a 2% cash. First of all, the delay of getting that extra 1% when you repay is a pain in the rear end. It doesn't reflect immediately when you pay but only after the next statement closes. So there is a time delay
Additionally, redemption counts against purchases. So let's say you purchased $100, you earn a buck, but if you redeemed $25, you're down to earning 75 cents, which is the most idiotic thing ever.
Avoid this card if you're trying to pull straight 2% with no hassel. Like Larroo said, Fidelity, Synchrony and I think there's a Paypal card too all work better.
Thank you so much for explaining the elements of this card I didn't knew.

I've been using this card for years and have always gotten 2%. Do you carry a balance or something? It's set up so that you earn 1% when you make a purchase and the other 1% when you make a payment.
When I was 17 I had an account with Wachovia. They were bought out by Wells Fargo at the time, and I had a grandfathered free checking, which was no such thing at Wells Fargo…
Long story short they tried to fee me to death to get me out of that free checking account, and eventually I walked away after they set my account negative $175. I never paid it, and for that reason (I think) they will never approve me again lol. Oh well.

Any bills are fine. I have bought $1600 Costco gift cards and received $325.

the 1% card makes the autograph a 4.5% card. without it it's just a 3% card.
