Really good tv, specially at this price. The contrast due to local dimming is really really good. Surprisingly the TV has a pretty loud sound as well.

I don't really care about TV shows, I can add Xfinity stream which I have a million billion shows cuz the lady has that subscription, and the chatter about Android being slow is fixed a long time ago

It's a total preference but I can plug in a Roku into an Android tv, but there's no Android plug in device into a Roku TV.

I like to keep my options open but I'm mostly using this for sports and gaming
Not sure where you're getting your information from, but there has been Android TV streaming boxes out for years. The Nvidia Shield TV, Mi TV Stick, Tivo Stream 4K are all Android TV streaming plugins. The official one from Google is the Chromecast with Google TV, which is the newer platform. Google will still support Android TV, but it will not be updating it to Google TV so you'll be stuck with an obsolete platform.

This at this price or the U8G series for $800? Hm...
Pretty sure the 8 gets you 120hz. I have the 55 inch version of this tv and it's nice, but going forward I won't buy anything less than 120hz, and by that time I hope 8k is cheaper.

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank

I have the Roku version. Bought this on Black Friday deal at Best Buy for $475 with PayPal $25 discount.
Tv has great contrast, uniformity, low blooming, local dimming and it's bright. Roku is easy to use.
60hz, however, I bought this for my bedroom, don't need to be the best tv.
I have a Q80R and a X900H for my living and theater room.
I don't mind the U6GR performance at all.

Your not missing anything. It just means it's sold out. It's the same for me where I live.

Not buying another Google tv. At least not the low end TVs. Ours broke down suddenly "insufficient memory..." Can't uninstall apps. Can't even do a factory reset within the system. No physical reset button!

Read somewhere all Google tvs display advertisement or promotions running for a minute or longer with no option to skip, but not with Roku
Have you come across, thoughts ?

Looks good, but rtings.com says a con of the tv is ADS throughout the interface. What? I don't want ads anywhere, least of all my menus.

Anyone have experience and can comment how obtrusive the ads are and can you turn them off?

Rtings.com also states no HDR in gaming (Xbox Seris or PS5)… That's a no go for gamers.

I don't understand why your post is getting a thumbs down. Pointing out that making hundreds and thousands of dollar tv buying decisions based on a $50 dongle add on that you can easily change is an extremely relevant point.

"Dedicated" smart tv os integrated into a tv is the new age vcr/dvd combo. People like it on paper, but is more gimmick/marketing than real world value.

Not a chance. The value of this TV has nowhere to go but up. Buy in now while it's still affordable, and a few years from now it'll be worth a fortune.

As mentioned this is a surprisingly nice TV at a great price. Got the 65 android set for 550 and am very happy with the purchase. Would recommend if you are looking for what is likely the best budget set you can get right now. Use an external streamer for the best experience.
