Pixel 6 owner here. I word of warning.
the reviews stating the slow finger print reader is concerning.
If i can go back in time, I would not buy the pixel 6 because the fingerprint reader is embarrassingly slow and misreads if you change lighting conditions. It's simply awful and makes checking the phone a chore. I hate it. No screen protector issue, not my phone (it was exchanged), and it's a common complaint. If you are coming from a phone that had even an average sensor, this will annoy you to no end.

The Google Tensor chips have such unreliable and poor mobile connections that a significant number of users have to reboot regularly or toggle airplane mode on/off just to get data working. It always happens when i drive. Check reddits pixel subs for more info. It doesn't look like any of those issues will be fixed because they simply aren't fixed in the flagships.
It seems to be an issue when you transition towers, so if you travel a lot or travel through dead zones, it'll happen more frequently. An unacceptable problem most in-studio reviews don't address, but real-world users struggle with, and have been since launch.

warning: This kind of trade in deal came around 1.5 yrs ago for 4a 5g. The say they will respect trade in value if old phone is received within a month of you receiving the new phone. But then they delayed the return pkg . And instead of giving $285 trade in value they gave $15. Everyone had to fight with customer care to get back the money. And they have terrible customer care.

Several reviews of the final product are indicating it's pretty similar to the 6 and 6 Pro. Some early stories and very early (unofficial) hands on videos said it was a faster sensor, but many of the reviews coming out today of the production model ay it's similar in speed. Maybe a hair faster here and there, but not so much as to make a noticeable difference in day-to-day use.

I ordered a Poetic Revolution
Poetic Revolution Series Case for Google Pixel 6A 5G, Built-in Screen Protector Work with Fingerprint ID, Full Body Rugged Shockproof Protective Cover Case with Kickstand, Black https://a.co/d/1OmIuMh
I ordered the same. It's one of the most protective cases. The Poetic Guardian has a sleeker back and provides basically identical protection also (just lacks the kickstand the Revolution has).

Only played with mine for a couple hours or so....

Biggest positive over 5a (so far): performance
Biggest negative (so far): fingerprint reader is slower (but so far mostly functional), and I can't pull down notifications using the rear fingerprint reader like I could on the 5a... I also don't like how my thumb can slide around on the glass when using the in-screen reader... I guess I will get use to it though.

Would not have upgraded if it weren't for the $300 trade-in on my 3a.... but I think it will be a worthwhile upgrade with the free buds and $300 trade-in... especially because of (what I expect to be) a significant improvement in voice recognition which I use a lot.
I found some comments about the pull down notifications. One person suggested enable quick tap it works similarly.

Quick Tap:

Another option is One handed mode:
"Settings > System > Gestures > One handed mode, show notifications

I've found it to be preferable to reaching up to the fp scanner just to drag down, even on phones that still have the rear scanner.

I found quick tap either triggered erroneously too much, or I'd have to tap like crazy to try to get it to register."

I have the Poetic Spartan on my 4a5G.
They're great cases.

Thanks. I don't think losing the rear fingerprint scanner to pull-down notifications will be a big deal because I remember now that you can just swipe down on the home screen to do the same. It doesn't even have to be from the very top. Just put your thumb in the middle of the screen and quickly swipe down.

Although I still think they did a disservice using the new in-screen reader... it's definitely a downgrade.

Has anyone put a screen protector on this and works with the fingerprint?

Mines was working without protector, but after I put on spigen tempered glass screen protector I can't get register any fingerprint because it just fails at the end and says try another finger but no matter what I try it always ends up saying the same thing.

I had the 100gb Google One plan for .99
Upgraded yesterday to the 9.99 plan that gave me 10% back and bought the phone.

When can I downgrade back down to the lower plan.

Do I wait for the credits in the next 30 days, spend then downgrade?

Can I downgrade before 30 days?

Do I need to downgrade and at least keep the 200gb not 100gb to be eligible

Is this not eligible for Beta 13 yet?
You can enroll in beta 13 starting next week. It seems awesome reading feedback. Hope they release the final build for the public in the next few weeks - soonest is better.

"Meanwhile, Google told us that Pixel 6a will be eligible for the Android 13 Beta Program as early as next week. It's not yet available this morning."

You have to re-register fingerprints with the screen protector on more than likely. I'd try enabling increase touch sensitivity first, see below.

"Another thing to do to increase the fingerprint recognition speed is to turn on increased touch sensitivity in the Pixel 6 by going into the Pixel's 'Display settings,' and enabling the toggle for "Increase touch sensitivity"

This is a good article talking about all the things you can do to improve the fingerprint experience and lists screen protector brands certified by Google for the Pixel 6 - I would stick to buying one of those personally..

I'm wondering when they will give the current updates for the phone. The last update was April for the phone.

Just realized my 3a broken screen doesn't respond to touch, I was able to factory reset with web instructions, I hope that's good enough to get my $295.

Once the credits post to your account you can cancel or downgrade. Credits post 30 days after shipping meaning you're going to pay for two cycles. If you are on the 200gb plan at that time you'll get 3%, if on 2tb plan you'll get 10%, if on 100gb you won't get any credit. This is my understanding of how it works after reading comments etc.

Check out your order details. They should've split it. That's what mine says. I'm going to once I get the phone. Idk who down voted me on that, lol. $369 phone.

Tempered glass is problematic, even s22 with a fast scanner won't work properly, so given that 6a has a much weaker scanner , unlikely that will work.
