Pixel 6 owner here. I word of warning.
the reviews stating the slow finger print reader is concerning.
If i can go back in time, I would not buy the pixel 6 because the fingerprint reader is embarrassingly slow and misreads if you change lighting conditions. It's simply awful and makes checking the phone a chore. I hate it. No screen protector issue, not my phone (it was exchanged), and it's a common complaint. If you are coming from a phone that had even an average sensor, this will annoy you to no end.

The Google Tensor chips have such unreliable and poor mobile connections that a significant number of users have to reboot regularly or toggle airplane mode on/off just to get data working. It always happens when i drive. Check reddits pixel subs for more info. It doesn't look like any of those issues will be fixed because they simply aren't fixed in the flagships.
It seems to be an issue when you transition towers, so if you travel a lot or travel through dead zones, it'll happen more frequently. An unacceptable problem most in-studio reviews don't address, but real-world users struggle with, and have been since launch.

warning: This kind of trade in deal came around 1.5 yrs ago for 4a 5g. The say they will respect trade in value if old phone is received within a month of you receiving the new phone. But then they delayed the return pkg . And instead of giving $285 trade in value they gave $15. Everyone had to fight with customer care to get back the money. And they have terrible customer care.

Several reviews of the final product are indicating it's pretty similar to the 6 and 6 Pro. Some early stories and very early (unofficial) hands on videos said it was a faster sensor, but many of the reviews coming out today of the production model ay it's similar in speed. Maybe a hair faster here and there, but not so much as to make a noticeable difference in day-to-day use.

Anyone know what Google store's return policy is? Some sites like Reddit say there's a $35 restocking fee, though I haven't found that anywhere on Google store official return policy. What if I don't open the phone at all, is there still a restocking fee? I'm a bit hesitant due to trade in kit not arriving until next week, but the phone is here and that 15 day return window started counting. I assume the pixel buds also need to be shipped back together.
Yesterday I chatted with Google store customer service they told no restocking fee for returns. I took screenshot. Lets see how it works if I get to that situation

My phone and ear buds came in the same box.

Had anyone gotten a software update yet? I swear I read something about a day one update dropping for this phone but so far nothing, unless it updated something during setup and I missed it?

Yes. There was a 40mb update that I downloaded as soon as I set mine up. I manually checked in the settings.

For those of you that used the phone for a full day already, what has been your battery life like? Today is my 2nd full day and both days, I cannot get through the day w/o charging it at least once. Drove about 65 minutes today this morning w/ wireless Android Auto and the phone was at 72%. Had to plug it in in by mid afternoon. I am not a heavy user by any means.

Not to mention the heat... this phone gets hot. Wondering if that degrades the battery faster. Came from a Pixel 3A and the heat difference is very noticeable. But so far, the battery life is of the most concern. Finger print scanner has been fine.

Just curious to hear everyone battery experience on the 6A so far...

So far battery life seems fine. Probably not as good as my previous 5A though, which was excellent.

Have you checked your battery usage to see what apps are eating up most of your battery?

I just received my pixel 6a yesterday. I can't really review a phone after only 1 or 2 days use. After using the phone a week, I will have a better feel for it and find my likes and dislikes. I still have my Samsung Galaxy A71 5G and my Motorola G Stylus 2020 and will do a side-by-side-by-side comparison to the Pixel 6a. I also have an iPhone SE 2020 but I am trading it in.

Android 13 beta fixed many issues in Pixel 6/pro. If you see any issues in Pixel 6a, I'll suggest to wait until the stable version of 13.

So get a 5 or 5a then!
Well the 5 is becoming obsolete next year and the 5a still has a 60 hz refresh rate.

The update was released day one but it's being done in waves which is annoying. Means you have to wait until the update is made available / pushed to your handset.

Oh wow... definitely a fingerprint security issue. I can unlock my phone with my right pointer finger when I only put in my thumb print. It's not as easy to do it as the thumb print, but I did it at least 2 times.

Try it yourself... using your pointer finger and slowly slide your finger down while it's reading your print (maybe this reduces accuracy?). Try it a few times. Does it unlock for you?
Removing the prior registered fingerprints and re-registering your fingerprints fixes this from what I've read (the unlocking with unregistered fingerprints).

Some people also suggested to register fingerprints in a room with low lighting / a dark room (like the lights off).

I'm on T-Mobile and had to switch network type from 5G to LTE. For data usage and streaming the phone was unusable when set to 5G. The phone actually shows 5G UC when set to 5G. Has anyone else encountered this issue, and if so, were you able to resolve? Thanks!
