I was trying to buy a garden hose reel. This showed up in my local Sam's club, marked $40 off. Online price is the same $59.91 if you select local pick up.

I got this in 2020 for about $80 and that was a clearance price I thought was great so $60 is a steal. You won't find a cheaper cart than this, period. Great builds quality for the price. It's a really nice hose reel cart considering many go for $120+. It does however rust at all the weld points and seams. I sprayed a cold galvanizing compound of Rust-Oleum over those areas and while looks spotty since I was lazy and didn't want to do whole thing, been going for about a year with this and no new rust.

I don't really pull it around my yard I've found. Sits on back patio. I have my 100' Craftsman rubber hose and I'm constantly using it in this heat to water a bunch of newly planted trees and flowers in my yard. I'm lazy to wind up 100' every other day so I leave it pulled out and sitting in lawn. I have wound up 150' in this thing no problem.

It works when needed, but you need to also "neatly" wind it up and guide the hose next to itself as you wind it up, otherwise it'll wind funky if you reel it up in a hurry and it will get tangled and when you pull it off the reel it'll get boogered/tangled and you'll get pissed off like I found out haha.

So it does take extra care and time to wind up, hence why I leave it out and wind up before winter. Just things to be aware of.

Rather than lug this cart back and forth to front yard, I splurged and bought one of those nice Liberty hose reels on Amazon to mount on my brick and it swivels so I can wind it up or pull it out no matter what direction I go in the yard. It was $116 on Prime Day:

Liberty Garden 710 Navigator Rotating Garden Hose Reel, Holds 125-Feet of 5/8-Inch Hose - Bronze https://a.co/d/bmaKEY8
I think it's so you can use it on multiple hose bibs. So, for instance my house has 3. Two on the front, each side, and one rear. I'd be able to roll it out front and move it back afterwards. Easier that rolling it over my shoulder, but how much that convenience is worth is debatable.

Had I not purchased a hose pot (metal) from Costco (which I absolutely love), this would be a solid buy. The Sun will bake the hose, so make sure to buy something of quality.

This pickup fee is some serious B.S. and has me seriously considering whether to renew the membership next year. I will never pay a fee for in store pickup.

It's just their way of pushing you to plus. Personally I don't like the fee either, but have plus (early morning access before the crowds!). We shop there enough that the "bonus bucks" or whatever they call them end up covering the cost of the renewal and then some....

Yeah seems like a great way to compete with Amazon. Pay $4 for the privilege of driving to the store and picking it up yourself.

Oh wow! Boo hoo. I won't renew their membership that's literally free every year 😂

I recently got this one at Northern Tool for $80:

Might be worth considering if you're near NT and Sam's is not available nearby. Looks similar but says it holds 300' of hose, vs. 230', and the wheels are attached with locking nuts vs. cotter pins, if that matters. Not sure of any other differences. Seems pretty sturdy.

I keep it in my shed between uses but I sprayed it all over with Stabil after assembling anyway to help prevent rust.
I picked up that one as well, it's pretty well built, but I'm convinced the horrible instructions included are the reason it's on clearance. That and the abundance of ignorant folks returning it for leaking. Seems to be a common theme in the negative reviews for the Member's mark reel as well. They should just start bundling in some teflon tape in these kits as that would prevent so many returns and negative reviews. That and a better leader hose. I broke the one that comes with the Ironton reel the first time I went to tighten it.
I prefer the hammered gray paint of the OP's cart reel, I would have likely picked that one up if given the choice between the two.

LMAOLMAO I thought I seen that. I thought I misunderstood. They charge, to pick it up.
Interesting. I wonder if Sam's will charge me, to accept my money? I see why Sam's has
to give memberships away now.

I bought this at full price many months ago. Would buy it again. Way better than any of the plastic ones I've purchased in the past.

Sams is getting greedy. I have used pick up in store several times in the past without any fee ( not a plus member). They started this new BS of pick up for members to upgrade to plus. They give you regular membership for huge discounts or almost free but than nickel dime you for convenience. Whole point of pick up service is to avoid their junk lines ( without scan & go) and to guarantee a product you will get. But not charging this fee for convenience is oxymoron.
If covid was still be serious threat, I wonder if they would charged this nonsense fee??? They would have gotten sued.
Since people barely wear masks & don't care to visit and crowd the clubs, they believe they can enforce this junk fee anyhow they feel!!
