The good thing about blink is subscription is $100 for unlimited cameras

I bought the camera only via the prime day sale earlier this month. I have a first-gen sync module, and it all seemed to work fine, but connecting it to my old doorbell wiring gave me issues. I was able to connect and go through the setup no problem, and my analog doorbell chime worked fine. but then after an hour or less, the doorbell camera would just stop working. I never got any error in the app (trying to connect would time out, but that was it), and the other camera connected to my sync module worked fine. if I didn't hook the doorbell camera up to my home wiring, it worked indefinitely, so I assumed it was something to do with my home doorbell wiring. I ended up returning it, because I really want to keep my existing doorbell chime. I put the old doorbell button back on and it works same as always.

It never failed to connect (trying to connect would time out, but that was it), and my other camera connected to my sync module also worked.

No it's determined by when you created your account. If created by April 15, 2020 you have free cloud recording no matter what Blink device you have. The Blink XT2 cameras also come with free cloud no matter when you create your account but if you add a newer device such as the Blink Outdoor or Doorbell they do not get the same free cloud recording.
