Why does this camera cost so much ? It should cost $20-30 max.

Seems like it's just the camera component for the MyQ garage opener.

We recently installed the WYZE camera / garage door opener solution, and it's quite an amazing setup for its features and price - just $49

I use a Kasa camera in my garage which also serve as motion sensor for the shop light. It is half the cost of this one and can be pan/tilt. I have been using the Linear garage door opener controller for the past 6 years. I don't see the need to have the two integrated.

In order to record video you need a sub, of that I am sure. Supposedly the cameras "work" (live view and motion) if you don't have a sub.

The above said, I just had a couple Chamberlain openers installed that included cameras (didn't buy them for that though). I can't see how Chamberlain wants such a crazy amount of money for cameras and a subscription when you can get something as comparable for less - e.g. if you have a Ring or Blink system, just add one or 2 more cameras. There is nothing special about the cameras I have on my openers - they interface with MyQ and are added as completely separate entities. They show on the MyQ app, but AFAIK they don't interface with the actual opener (I believe they are still just activated by motion).
