The M1/M2 SoC's don't use DIMMs. The M2 has 50% more memory bandwidth than the M1. Perhaps you're thinking about the 256GB vs 512GB NVMe.

Why is a laptop with a 256GB SSD and 8GB of RAM so cheap at $1,100? What planet do you live on?

Very tempted, but I will wait for the air M2 sale. I just take a look at apple comparision and was confused about how the air seems to be the same or even better than the pro lol, bigger screen, better camera, lighter.

Apple in in trouble... Why their laptops are cheap now? They used to charge a big premium
Lol. They make money charging for memory. You must be new. Apple isn't in danger

They still do. They are only "cheap" because you found the deal. Think about the massive amount of people and businesses paying full MSRP.

The 256GB drive always puts me off, but I suppose I could spring for the 2TB iCloud. Still cheaper than the 512GB drive.

Reminder 8 GB of RAM in M2 Pro or M2 Air runs slower than 8 GB in M1 since it's 1 unit vs 2 4 GB DIMMs in the M1

For the average consumer this is probably still a good deal, but most on SD do not put themselves in that camp
