Better fans but it's not really necessary with the M1 chip

AFAIK the Air doesn't have any fans at least i have never heard one and mine runs very cool.. I can't recall it ever even getting warm.... not sure why they're needed on the pro

Open box for $879 is a steal (available in WeHo for my Southern California friends).

Fans for better sustained performance, brighter display (500 nits over 400 nits), longer battery life (up to 20 hours), larger touchpad, speakers with high dynamic range, studio quality three mic array, and an extra graphics core.

It also has the Touch Bar rather than a row of function keys.

tbh the main advantage to these sale at bb is that it drives down the open box prices.

My air for $636 was purchased the same way

I video edit on davinci resolve and my air mostly holds up fine… but when it starts to get hot it gets HOT! Performance suffers then too

It clearly is if you look at the air's price with its more frequent sales

And the touchbar is a big downgrade, most users agree, that's why apple has abandoned it and it's discontinued.

First time wannabe Macbook Pro owner. Do you guys recommend this laptop? Please advise. I currently use the first version of Surface Book from late 2017. Why does OP's post get so many thumb downs?

Depends on what you need it for. If you just do light things like consume content then I'd say yes because the battery life on these things is insane. I actually just bought this open box "satisfactory" and when I went to pick it up all it had was a stain on the bottom that I wiped off with a cloth and it could instantly have been "excellent" so that was like a $100 wipe!

I recommend getting the 512GB for $1299. That is what I got but "satisfactory" for $1052 and it was worth every penny. I wouldn't pay $1299 for it though let alone $1499.

Just loaded up the Adobe apps I needed and nothing else and my drive is down to 414GB so I think 256GB is a criminal offense.

I was just buying this because it was so cheap and so I thought I'd test run it then probably return it but at this price and after using it I"M KEEPING IT haha. I've had YouTube running for the last 20 minutes while looking for deals on slick deals and my battery is still at 100% AFTER 20 minutes! I also have a Zephyrus Duo and just surfing chrome on that thing will kill it in just over an hour, my EcoFlow says it constantly using 284 watts for just SURFING the internet.

I own an i7 16" mbp, 14" M1 Pro and now this 13" M1. I've opened After Effects and rendered one of my bigger projects. Here are the render times for the same project which is a 32second clip: 16" took 16m42s, 14" took 6m31s and 13" took 11m26s

Like someone said the sale drives down the open box prices and this is definitely worth the open box prices. If you get "excellent" you should be good to go. If you roll the dice on anything lesser you should buy local so you can examine it before taking it home.

Thanks for the reply! So, as a first time Apple product user, I want to sorta play it safe and make a wise purchase so as to not have the buyer's remorse. Therefore, I decided to get the 512 HDD space as suggested by you. However, when I change the size, the processor changes from M1 to Intel "something". I read somewhere that Apple is moving away from using Intel processors and it'd be wise to get the M1 processors. What's difference, or rather which one between Intel and M1 is recommended?

You need to get the m1 and you only have 33 minutes left on the sale price. DON'T BUY THE INTEL.

Ugh... The FOMO. 😊

So, quick couple of questions:

1. How does this -->MacBook Pro M1 8GB/512 SSD compare to the one that I already have. It is a 4 year old Microsoft Surface Book (13 in) and has Intel Core i5 6300 [email protected] GHz. Ram is 8GB and HDD is 256GB

2. What is the return policy on Open-box Excellent MBPs? I hate giving BB business (15 years and counting I stopped buying stuff from BB) and as it seems I have to now, I'd rather give them 200 bucks less.

Thanks in advance for your help.
