I try to buy "made in the USA" whenever possible. In mechanical and machine tools, though, Taiwanese manufacturers often have both better quality and lower prices Frown
Back when I was younger and working on cars all the time I would have jumped on this deal without a second through. But now I just can't justify it. Thumbs up for a good deal on a decent quality set for anyone that does need it.

man there ain't nothing like a straight handle / head ratcheting wrench. Beats ALL!! If I need offset, well then I get a ratchet and appropriately sized socket

I agree but I use my various offset wrench's all the time. Sometimes a ratchet is too deep to work.

what if you can't fit it and /or have a tight space.

One alternative (if you live near a Harbor Freight)--

Icon has a 12-piece (Metric) ratcheting set that sells for $200. I got mine for $180 with a coupon.

https://www.harborfreight.com/met...56427.html

If you need the 20-22mm wrenches, then totally worth it to get this Milwaukee set. Everything else (8mm thru 19mm) is pretty much identical. Can't beat Icon's lifetime return policy.

I appreciate wanting to support US manufacturing, but buying used only puts money in the pockets of the sellers, not the manufacturers.

How do these compare to Gearwrench sets that are ~$150 on Amazon? I have an old set of Craftsman ratcheting wrenches that are really nice but it's a small set.

So high resale value isn't part of the value equation for potential buyers?

Of course it. And thus buying on the secondary market does indirectly help manufacturers.

No time left for car hobbies. Now tools come out to fix something with the house or build something for the kids.

Lol. Sadly my last engine build was a high compression NA Saturn 2001 SC 3 door coupe. 11:1 compression, forged rods/pistons, racing cams, took the time to paint/detail everything, external fuel computer, SS header, 50 shot nitro that took a lot of tuning, etc. Lot of work for a plastic car. But man did it sound and run good.

If you can find a "Made in the USA" craftsmen set for this price then buy it. But you won't, best you'll get is a 72 point V-series that won't be as good and more expensive overall for the pieces in this set. And this is coming from someone with a old USA made socket set that is going on 20+ years that I love and still use. Craftsmen is just not what they used to be. Still in my opinion quality tools, especially their USA made screw drivers, but again not what they used to be.

Harbor Freight tools are great when you need a cheap tool to get a job done and recognize that it's going to be garbage afterward. Like "I need this xxx for this job and will probably never use it again". That's when you cheap out and buy it there. Otherwise buy something of quality.
