It's a sticky tape and I had to remove it for my windshield replacement. I recommend heating it up and use the string provided to remove it. Otherwise, it's hell of a job.
Also following this question - if you have a front and back option for under 150 that would be great - thank you
Sadly I'm waiting for the a129 plus front and rear to go back on sale. It was less than 150 on sale but now it's 169.

It helped me realize it comes with a static film that can help installing and uninstalling easier.

I have two Viofo dash cams the A129 Duo Pro 4k and this a119. Wiring the rear camera in that A129 Duo Pro is a pain and required a longer 8m cable for my SUV. I prefer the a119 and I hardly notice the lower resolution and prefer the higher fps in the a119. The a119 mini version is slightly smaller in footprint but bulkier and the LCD is a joke it's so small to read. In the end the overheating issues and the features I don't use make buying a v119 v3 my preferred cam. I have a truck with a rack and a Duo setup is hard to setup. I'm planning on buying a second dash cam just for the rear but I've got bigger issues to worry about and mainly concerned with recording the front traffic. 80 is a good price and I haven't seen it much lower than this. Anything less is probably not likely and the savings isn't worth waiting for if you need the footage for an accident or parking issue. Buy the hardwire kit. I found eBay has the best price for that accessory. I don't have a glare issue so I opted out of the polarized filter.
thanks op, usually amazon would recommend the addon to buy together (not as savings but because they go together) for the gear to connect to the battery instead of the cigarette lighter, but I'm not seeing that for this one anywhere on the page...
anybody know the right link for that? I hardwired my last cam in my last car, that's definitely the way I'd want to go this time too, but want to make sure I get the right one!
Buying this as a replacement. My last A119 lasted about 4 years before it started rebooting constantly. Seems like the capacitor stopped holding a sufficient charge.

I'm also waiting for a deal on the front/rear combo for my wife's car, but just throwing another anecdotal data point out there: I've been running the 1080p Viofo A129 Duo in my car for 3 years now. 100F+ degree summers, -20F freezing winters, this thing has not failed to record. In fact, submitting footage from a fender bender I was in protected me from my insurance rate increasing, which paid for the camera ~3 times over. I cannot imagine driving without something recording. If you don't have a camera, get this one!
Also, it is very important that you use a High-Endurance microSD card in these. I was using a regular card and the camera would go into a boot loop after about a year or so. The temperatures it's exposed to require a beefier microSD card than the regular ones that don't see temperature extremes. Swapping the card out for a high endurance one fixed it immediately.
I was in a car accident last week and I wish I had a dash camera and back camera recording the accident. Does anyone recommend a good quality brand in a $250 or less range. Thanks in advance
Check out Thinkware. They even have refurbished units that include front and rear cameras. Specifically, a good budget set that is great quality is the X700. Comes in less than your $250 for the whole kit.
