Whenever I see a Viofo product, especially this a119 v3, I want to warn everyone that there's an inherent problem with their device resetting, at least for the ones that use capacitors. They have been aware of this problem for years. It may work today and next month, but you will notice something wrong one day when you need footage. A warrantied replacement is useless bc the problem isn't related to one item.

Definitely interesting. This issue affects every single one of their dash cams and will occur at some point?
Probably not. I've got like 5 and never had that happen.
I bought the a119 mini2 in June and it had odd lens issue. It was acknowledged and later they started warranty replacement on them. I'm Texas heat it started producing hue in the video. Alos sometimes mine won't start recording for a while when it's cold or not used for three days in a row
I don't know what xslickIDx is referring to, but I'm guessing maybe the fact that the RTC battery (Real-Time Clock) "wears out" after 2-3 years (moreso in hotter climates, though this happened to me even in moderate and foggy San Francisco).
So what happens is: after several years these dashcams become useless since their settings will all reset each time if not driven every single day. If you have a GPS attachment the GPS will eventually gain satellite connection and update the clock, but that's an extra consideration/cost.
I have this, shows a bunch of black X boxes.
Display shows, no buttons work.
Remove microSD card, buttons work, but of course can't record.
Reset to default.
It won't take firmware update.
