Know why the BB listing is a different model? WD140EFFX vs WD140EFGX
Can't find whether the BB listing has CMR or not.
EDIT: Has CMR. Don't see a clear difference on this WD chart

The only difference was this footnote: Actual spindle motor rotational speed for this model is 7200 RPM; although ID Device may report 5400 to reflect previous Performance Class designation.
It has 1,000,000 hours MTBF, a 3 year warranty and only rated for 180TB/year.
The Seagate ST14000NM001G 14TB drive has a 2,500,000 hours MTBF, a 5 year warranty and rated for 550TB/year. It has been on sale for $200 recently but is currently ~$230 at most etailers. I would pay an extra $20 to have a much better drive.

I guess IRL both are pretty close. I ordered two 14tb WD Reds for my new DS920 and one of them was DOA. I ordered one Exos and now I have one WD and one Seagate spinning in the NAS. Will see which one dies first, haha 😆

It's great if you swap out drives once in a while but not all the time. If you swap drives all the time you probably want a "toaster" style dock where the drives stand upright in it.

Moving up from there, Mediasonic has USB enclosures for multiple drives that will do RAID/JBOD etc.
You can also do a single enclosure with ethernet or step up to a basic NAS from QNAP or Synology.
I would usually grab an enclosure at Micro Center but I figured Amazon links are more universally useful without knowing specifics.

But those were, indeed, cheap drives. I would expect Seagate Exos x16 drives to do very well. The two 14TB Exos x16 drives I have are helium drives and pretty quiet. Unknown if this WD deal is He filled. The 12TB WD Red Plus I also recently got was not He filled (but I suspect still pretty reliable)
it has the same wty and adds a few TB, only drawback is the built-in encryption for some.
