What's the difference between the single and double hoses?
Single hose let's the hot air out the hose, but sucks in air from the room. This results in the AC creating a vacuum in the room, trying to suck air in from anywhere. Also, the single hose design, unless you insulate it, week result in a very warm hose, negating the cool air the machine is cooling.
Dual hose design sucks air in from the outside with 1 house and exhausts hot air in another hose. The dual hose unit I just got from woot.com for $300 is a dual hose design that looks like a single hose. The exhaust hose is inside a bigger hose, which does not result in a warm hose heating up the room. Because one house is sucking in air, there is no vacuum in the room fighting to get air.
Cliff notes: never get a single hose design unit. I've got one sitting in the garage. I'd rather suffer the heat then use it since it would be pretty much the same temp in room.
