$99 is the list price, the suggested retail price, or MSRP. It's the price you'd find at places that charge retail, like carhartt.com. Amazon pricing for most products is almost always going to be lower than the list price - in this case 42% lower and close to the cheapest you'll ever find for this bag.

I have this bag since last November. Use it for a gardening tote bag since the molded base is nice for carrying it around as you garden. Still looks brand new. I paid $60 back then on sale, so this is a decent deal.
