OpenWrt link: https://firmware-selector.openwrt...ear_wax202

edit: it does have the older, weak MT7621 CPU, so don't expect miracles for capability.

I had the same issue at first and thought I got a defective one. I did a reset and set up 3 wifi streams. No problems connected to stream 2 and 3. Used stream 1 only to connect my smart devices. Hopefully that helps.

Do you know if you can setup 5ghz on all three streams?

Interesting that Netgear calls this an access point on their website while the Amazon description says router. But it does have a WAN port. So is this just differences in marketing speak or is there anything functional that's different from a typical router?

It's whichever you want. If you want it to act like a dumb access point and use a better router, you can do that.

I bought this during the last deal and my 8 year old nighthawk was better. Sad. Maybe i just need to make some tweaks?

It seems I have better speed now but my devices and ring alarm keep disconnecting randomly.

That's not good to hear. What's the most solid router out? I really don't care about max speed. I also would like to run two in wired bridge mode

Originally, Netgear only set the firmware up to support an access point mode. With firmware version 1.0.4.0, Netgear enabled the ability for it to be a router in the firmware: https://kb.netgear.com/000064371/...=000064371.
