I've been using this monitor in my home office for about a year. It's been great. The only issue I have with it is that the height is not adjustable. This could be mitigated by wall mounting it, I suppose. Other than that it's been 100% issue free.

No it is not. This is you speaking from a place of ignorance.

A 34 wide-screen and 27 are the same height. The extra diaganol is gained on the x axis.

I've been eyeing this monitor for awhile just because it's the only budget ultra wide I could find at this price point. Was about to pull the trigger on a refurb on Amazon for $224 but will gladly take whatever warranty I can tack onto this.

Downside is VA panel, not sure about about brightness but will be fine for my use as a main monitor for work to reduce eye strain on some things.

i dunno, wouldn't the Gigabyte M34WQ be a better choice when it goes on sale for 299$..?

Question for you, for working and basic productivity does the VA panel make a difference? I will not be using it for making.

I can't say that it makes a difference. For context, when I work from home I'm in front of my monitor for 8-12 hours per day.

The HP X34. We totally missed out on it for $325. Hopefully that deal comes back.

The resolution is too low for such a big monitor. Granted, not as bad as some 30" or so with 1080 resolution. If this was a 27"-30", it would have been fantastic.
