I read this... https://www.cmple.com/learn/whats...atch-cable
but I'm still unsure of what patch cables are. Is the wiring different than that when connecting a PC to a router?

When connecting a internet modem with a built-in router to a seaparate router (to get better routing functionality), does one use a patch cable or just a short regular ethernet cable? Maybe these are mainly used for connecting things to network switch panels.

A bunch of camels say that this is regularly $4-$5, so it's a low historical price.

Also have a bunch of other lengths/colors on sale. Picked up a bunch of 1ft for $1.29 each in blue and a 100ft in green for 11.99.

It is the same thing, regular ethernet cable and patch cable.
