Given the pricing of nvidia's new cards these are definitely a good value proposition for those who want more frames per second for less money because you're not going to get it buying a 4080 16 GB at more than $1,200.
AMD will be releasing cards in November and hopefully put pressure on Nvidia to start lowering the price of their 40 series cards. I suspect the pressure from having so little demand from gamers and more used graphic cards from dismantled mining rigs being sold on used market will put a lot of downward pressure. Crypto miners by November will probably realize if not sooner that holding onto their graphic cards will only end up in getting less value. Give them a month or so to transition from denial stage to panic sell.

Been patient for 2 years… sure, I'll HOLD till November, hope this will get down to $400-ish ✌️

if you waited this long, don't buy now. literally the worst time to buy. this will be $400 in 2 months. we will be seeing 6900xt for $500 very soon (they have been as low as $700 this summer)
Prices are just starting to go down. Unless you need a card this second, wait until November at the earliest.
Most used mining cards have not hit the market yet, which will further drive down the price of new cards. Plus, the cost of those cards will plummet once millions are on eBay and other sites.

Exactly. Take a look at the new MSRPs, which are only for Founder's Edition cards. AIB prices will be higher. For example, the 4090 is $1599. And the bs low-spec 4080 is totally insane.

It's only the beginning of failing prices.
Will wait. Revenge time. Look At nvidia stock tanking. They neglected gamers, now they will beg

If I can get a used RTX 3090 for $400 two months from now, I'd rather do that.
There's no way to justify the price of the 4000 series cards.
