Philips Hue Play Sync Box marked down $50 from $249.99 to $199.99 at Best Buy. Then, you get an additional $50 Best Buy E-gift card emailed to you at purchase.

The purpose of the sync box is to allow Philips Hue Play lights sync with your TV.
Things to note: *Must have Philips Hue Lights and the Bridge *Will not sync with built in streaming apps on a SmartTV, you would also need a fire stick, gaming console, or chrome cast (something that plugs into the hdmi) to play the apps to have it sync

You lose 4K 120hz option on consoles if you use this
So basically the order or ports is you plug your Shield/PS5/Xbox/etc into this and then the HDMI goes out of this into your TV. This only works with external devices of course though - you can't use the built-in OS on your tv to send signal to this.
Correct - this only supports EXTERNAL HDMI inputs. There aren't any TV's out there that I know of that have HDMI out abilities.

Well worth it if you have money to spend. Only downside is no 2.1 but I'm not that big of a gamer so don't really care about 4K 120Hz

I'm guessing there will be an updated box announced at CES, so I'll hold off and move my older one to the family room if that happens

So everyone here spending $200 for the tv bgcolor change ??
No lights with this. You need this + the lights, so more than $200.

I got this a couple months ago and enjoy it. No issues with signal - mostly use with Device (usually Shield) -> Receiver -> TV, with 3x hue play light bars (via the $130 FP Costco deal) on the back of the TV.

I really like this and say it's worth it if you have hue light bar set up. Also I have my Xbox plugged directly into the tv and then put hue sync with Apple TV to get the lights when watching videos. It really brings out movies and scenes and leads to a better experience. But it's up to personally

For posterity, folks should know there are other devices that do what this does (and better). They just cost even more.

More Expensive - https://hdfury.com/product/4k-diva-18gbps/ - $499+$99 - Ambient lighting using an optional kit. Dolby Vision supported. Plus, a ton more power user options built in.

Less Expensive - https://www.amazon.com/Lytmi-Back...B09VK4QF16 - $100+/- - Only a single input so if using multiple devices, you'll need a splitter/AVR as well. Supports Dolby Vision.

Note - It should be pointed out that the Govee solution of using an external camera to track what's on screen is not the only option if you exclusively use the built-in apps on your smart TV.

https://ambivision.tv/shop/ambivi...ing-system - $200 - can also do it using a camera mounted facing the TV. That said, the Govee can be mounted upside-down so that the camera is on the bottom and for many this eliminates much of its visibility.

UPDATE: There is a solution apparently that is cheaper than even the Govee; At least right now on sale.

https://www.amazon.com/Immersion-...B09KZRB79P - $65- According to a reviewer answering one of the questions - this has a few firmware updates you'll need to do, but does in fact do Dolby Vision as well.

I have the Govee. The main problem with mounting it on the bottom is that if you have any ceiling lights near your TV on, it can't pick up the colors on the TV correctly. Not a problem if you're watching a movie in the dark, but for the times I'm just watching TV with the lights on, it's really distracting having random RGB colors flashing behind the TV. I ended up moving mine to the top. The colors also aren't always accurate, even with the lights off, but they usually get pretty close.

My $10 off $150 applied twice lol.

One thing you can't do is use a gift card for any portion of this purchase because the system thinks you are trying to buy a gift card with a gift card.

Anyhow, $193 - $50 makes $143 a good deal for me. Just hope it works well with my Samsung Q w/the single box and single fiber optic cable into the TV (one connect box hidden in cabinet).

I had the same issue, but I found a workaround, add some other product first, then add gift card, then add this product and remove first product you added.

If you want to have a solution for your tv then you can try the govee device but that requires you to mount a small camera on your tv. Hue is far more powerful and versatile but it is more pricey

Doesn't have to be mounted above. I located mine below in a small valet box filled with decorative stones. However that only works for me because I don't have an overhead light source in direct proximity that will affect the accuracy of the Govee setup.

Highly recommend the Govee lights. A fraction of the price, no real extra cable management, wireless control with Google home (not sure about Alexa), works with internal video, and can even have dynamic lighting where it flashes with sound for things like action movies.

Only real downside is the physical camera which is easy to ignore after a while but does make transporting the TV a little more of a delicate situation.

Just want to add it does support Alexa as well. And I hid mine below the tv.

Was a little frustrating to set up on my Samsung 4k TV with a soundbar / firestick / chromecast but finally got things working after some trial and error.

Ended up keeping my soundbar plugged into the HDMI ARC port on TV and not the sync box and surround sound is working properly.
