Okay, I figured out how to find out which trade-in box corresponds to which order.

1. Go to the "Order Details" page for your order on bestbuy.com. This page likely says "Shipping Kit on its way" for the trade in status.
2. Open Developer Console in Chrome. Navigate to the "Networks" tab and reload the page.
3. Search for "trade" in the search box.
4. You should see 3 results - the third begins with "2002..." for me. Click on this one.
5. Click on "tradeInStatusInfo" -> "fulfillment" -> "tracking".

You will see the tracking number of the return shipping UPS label. You should also see a "isBoxShipped" field that likely reflects if your trade-in kit has shipped yet.

Best Buy trade-in process has not changed since iPhone 13 trade-in deal last summer, so all these following tips still apply to this Pixel trade-in. This is for in-store trade-in, I have not done mail in trades with Best Buy.

For an in-store trade-in, does anyone know if the value is assessed right there and then or if it gets sent to another third party for evaluation?

Damn good deal. I basically rented the Pixel 6 for 1 year and paid only $70. Can't wait to get my Pixel 7 next week.

Any idea why they don't have an option to trade in a Pixel 6a? I see earlier "a" variants are available for trade in, but not the 6a…
Because they're still selling the 6a, along with the 7 and 7 pro.

well, they don't care at that time but once they notice Joe and Mike and John do the same thing, guess what will happen. "eventually" they will catch up.

like your gang just robbed a bank and each of you got a million dollars. your leader says lay low, don't buy anything expensive, cars, house, jewelries etc. then there is always this one newbie that will spoil everything.
That's funny. You think you're smarter than Best Buy and that you're gaming the system when in fact, Best Buy has teams of commercial professionals and data analysts that know exactly what, how and why things are priced and how their offers interact.

You're not taking advantage of anyone. Best Buy wants (and encourages) their customers to do these things. They know EXACTLY what they're doing and you're paying EXACTLY what they want you to.

Worth trading in a brand new in box Pixel 6 from last week's T-Mobile deal for Pixel 7 for effective $80?

Seems the camera is the same, battery is smaller, one more year worth of updates, hopefully less bugs than Pixel 6.
I did (though in my case its only $50-$60 more if factor in $100 GC (though I might try to sell the GC for $90-$95 as dont have anything I want at best buy in the near future)

I have a feeling that, if we return P7P, we won't get back the additional promotional credit that BB is offering. May be I am wrong.
Yeah that's another question. Hope someone gets clarification on both this and on the tax refund part.

In almost all jurisdictions there is no tax refund. it's essentially 2 transactions

1) they agreeing to buy your phone from you for X price.

2) you agreeing to buy the phone for full price

Instead of giving you the cash from #1 they just use it to pay down #2, doesn't change the purchase price of #2 and hence no tax change.

Perhaps in some jurisdictions they consider it a lower purchase price, but that's not normally the case.

Also, in many cases where there's a seller "rebate" (such as a gift card) if you return the item, they only refund you the price you paid - what they already rebated you. So In Best Buy's case, if the phone is $900 with a $200 gift card (and a $45 return fee), would Might only expect to get back $650 or so on a return (though probably really 900+tax paid - $45 - $200)

I'm trying to trade in an iPhone XR and I only see att, sprint, and verizon options, no T-Mobile. If I trade in at a store do you think they'll care, or I could probably just choose the wrong carrier and pass it off?
