About this item:
- Nest Hello is now the Nest Doorbell (wired)
- Always know who's at the door with the Nest Doorbell; get an alert when someone approaches and talk to visitors at your door from anywhere
- With person alerts, this smart doorbell can tell the difference between a person and a thing and alert you even if they don't ring the bell
- HDR video delivers bright, crisp images on the doorbell camera so you see every detail; the 4:3 HD video is designed to show you people from head to toe and packages on the ground
- With HD Talk and Listen, you can have a conversation with visitors or use prerecorded messages when you can't respond to the doorbell; it has noise and echo cancellation so visitors come through loud and clear
- Connects to Wi-Fi for 24/7 streaming that lets you check what happened on your video doorbell anytime or go back and view a three-hour snapshot history to see what you missed
- With night vision, 850 nm infrared LEDs let you see what's happening, even in the dark
- Add a Nest Aware subscription (sold separately) for package detection and even more intelligent alerts
- This video doorbell is designed to replace a wired doorbell and requires a chime and the right transformer; or use the Indoor Power Adapter (sold separately) to make it compatible with any home
- When someone rings the Nest Doorbell, you can see the camera feed on your Nest Hub
- Disclaimers: Some features, including mobile notifications, video streaming and video recording, require working internet and Wi-Fi; Familiar face alerts require a Nest Aware subscription, familiar face alerts not available on cameras used in Illinois; Nest Hub sold separately

I've also had occasions where something didn't get caught via motion, but I was able to go back into time and find video of it due to the fact that they are always recording.
*Edit, it does look like more manufacturers are offering 24/7 recording now... Eufy, Alro, Waze can record locally, but it looks like only Arlo records 24/7 to the cloud, and they charge $14,99/month. Cloud storage is not cheap.
If you want cameras that still work with the original nest app, this is one of the cheapest ways to get one.

That isn't required though, I don't think
Live function only without subscription if ok with you

Many people will be spending considerably more than this ($5) daily on something frivolous.
How many bottles of coke or bags of chips do you buy in a week?

BTW if you listen to local NPR radio you'll hear this all the time. "For just a couple of latte's a month you can become a member...". What they're actually asking is that you give them $10/month which is a much harder sell given that many video streaming services cost around that, and people may value those more than they do the radio.
