Excellent fan, but this seems to be the newer model where they removed the ability to connect with extension cord the old model had if that matters to you
Yep. Depending on your needs, this model may or may not have some trade offs. This one is rated for 650cfm but has no outlet to plug in 120vac power. The DCE511B has the outlet, but is also only rated for 500cfm.

I have a 511 and just purchased this 512. For my needs, it'll be fine.
If you can show us a metal, battery powered fan, with this type of output for $70 please share, as I would be interested. We will be waiting for your deal.

I have nothing against plastic - its the $70 on sale part
For $60 @ regular price you can get a Ryobi misting fan - the bees knees when its really hot
On sale its even cheaper

The nice thing about these are the variable speeds. It's like a dimmer switch so dial in the perfect fan speed vs small/med/high

Nice fan! Recently, used it when we were without power thanks to Hurricane Ian.

Same for me; we were without power for 5.5 days. Have a few of these. They were amazing at keeping air moving and keeping us comfortable.

I actually have both the previous version of this dewalt fan and the Ryobi. The Ryobi is noticeably cheaper feeling, I.E. type of plastic, weight, and just general overall design and build quality. The Ryobi also doesn't feature a variable speed selector like the Dewalt does, it only has a high speed/low speed switch. The Ryobi also doesn't seem to be able to hold its rotated position when in high speed, it slowly drifts down. The Dewalt features some sort of ratcheting lock, so when you rotate it up and down you hear clicks and that seems to hold its position with no issues.

I only paid $25 for the Ryobi through Direct tool outlet, so It's fine for a $25 fan but I much prefer my Dewalt even at double the price (I paid $50 for the Dewalt).

Edit: apparently Ryobi has updated their fan as well, My reference is to the older P3320 version. I have no experience with the newer Ryobi.
The Ryobi holds its fixed angle well (I have two), and retained the hybrid power after its upgrade (wall plug or battery power option) the 9ah battery ran them all night on highest setting after Ian and was still providing power when I shut it off in the AM.

But the DCE511B with the cord is $300. This one is less than $100.

Yep people don't realize these cheap adapters kill batteries since they just connect to the +- terminals without any low voltage protection.
This is typically only a problem when using DeWalt batteries on other brands of tools. Most brands have the battery protection built into the battery itself while DeWalt builds the battery protection into the tool, so using a DeWalt battery on another tool brand has no protection.

That'd probably be fine on an intermittent use tool like a drill, where it'd be easy to manually check the charge status on occasion. But if you use it in another brand fan and let it run all night, you may wake up to a battery that is discharged too much to be recharged.
