It is a simple calculation to determine whether or not it is worth it. For me, with being able to transfer points to CSR from my other three chase CCs (Freedom, Freedom Unlimited and Business Ink), the 50% bonus on points used for travel far outweighs cash back and/or the $50 it costs me a year. We dont travel a lot, but when we do we are always using points for something (flights or hotel). Last time I checked I had booked about 10 RT flights and 30+ nights in hotels all with points.
My credit cards get used a lot, so I probably earn 8-10k points a month.
How it will benefit if we transfer points to chase freedom card?
this sucks for those who applied the perferred card.
does not apply to previous cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card who received a new cardmember bonus within the last 48 months.
and i could actually use the airport lounges. maybe i should just upgrade it without taking the credit
I was able to call customer service and ask about this, since I was the original applicant my wife is considered an authorized user, so we are going to apply for this card under her name to get the bonus points and I'll be an authorized user under her for the CSR

Thanks, does authorized user have their own account and able to use all the perks? Or only the account holder has the lounge pass and other perks?
I thought bonuses were card specific. I had the preferred card and downgraded it to freedom flex this summer. I have to wait 48 months to get the reserve bonus ?

it's 48 month from your last Sapphire bonus to the open date of your new card.
Since this is a personal card, you can call recon right away, but generally best to wait for a letter to find out what's going on. Often times it'll just approve you and the card will show up

Downgrade to a regular freedom, not a flex

Grab an VX and be an AU there if you're or anyone is going to do this
1) I had Chase saphire preferred 2-3 years ago and so applying for Reserve a different product would I qualify or need ot wait the 48 months?
2) the $300 travel credit, is that only applied after 1st anniversary and is it for any travel charged and not necessairly via their portal?
2) This is every year, and anything that codes as travel.
