I read the Q&A on gateway's site and it says "The GWTN156-7 unfortunately does not support NVMe M.2, only SATA" and "the GWTN141-10 does not support NVMe SSD" (for both these models, they say NVMe is not supported)
It's in the description but I don't see one in any of the images.

This video shows the 11th Gen and it does show NVME settings in the BIOS so now I'm curious.

The only real advantage the gateway has over the dell is that the cpu is a bit faster and the gpu also def a bit faster but still not fast enough for a lot of the newer game. But then again you are not getting either of these to play games. The gateway also has HDMI 2.0 whether as dell only have HDMI 1.4
I still would lean a bit more toward dell, but then again it's a close call.

These are the specs of the dell i got:
Dell Latitude 7390 2-in-1 2-In-1, 1x Intel Core i5 Quad (i5-8350U) 1.70 GHz, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB HDD, No Optical, Intel Integrated Graphics, Backlit Keyboard, Windows 10 Professional
judging by reviews, i may just stick with my dell, it cost less, and has a better build quality. plus touch and backlit keyboard.

no backlit keyboard though.. is enough for me to hold off..
I'm pretty sure this is an 11th gen cpu. I just purchased this for my parents. This laptop will be used as a "PC tower replacement" for them - always plugged into a monitor and power supply with mouse and KB. This laptop will do all the YouTube, streaming, and email tasks very well.
I would recommend you to get this laptop if you want 12th gen and a bit of gaming. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-v...lsrc=aw.ds
Do you own one? When you go to the BIOS what options do you see?
Weird for there to be an NVME section in the BIOS if they're not supported.

Bios appears completely unlocked so there are probably several settings that do nothing. I tried the nvme setting and ssd did not work in either slot. Good thing with unlocked bios is the ability to bump up voltage on video (there is a link to a video on one of the many threads for this laptop on SD).
Good laptop for the money if you get a good one, also depends on what other deals this BF. I got a 14" refurb last Nov.
