This is a good price compared to the typical price for this arm. But yes, it was indeed $27 for a few hours last week. And the 2-pack was $55.
I already had one tall pole Ergotron arm (purchased it 10 years ago). Just needed one another. But by the time I realized the single in silver color was $27, it was out of stock. So I got the 2-pack for $55 instead. Now I have an extra one lying around.
Installed the new arms few days ago. They are definitely rebranded Ergotron. Even says so on the packaging.
I have never had a problem with the generics
My bro just got a generic huano one he saw on here a few days ago. I can tell you adjust and moving the monitors is so much harder. Even my ergear I can move around with one finger and it's butter smooth. The cheap ones you almost need to force to move around

However it is remarkably difficult to buy just the long pole. Might be easier to get something machined than to go through Ergotron.
From an email exchange with Ergotron in 2017:
"The only way to get the tall pole is to purchase the base clamp & pole assembly as shown in the picture below. The part number is 200-490-026-01, and the price is $64.55 plus shipping. To purchase this part please call our Customer Care group at (800) 888-8458."
