I bought the 2TB Version back in August when it was $130 (Amazon Price Error), and it's been working well with my PS5. I store and run my PS4 games from there. No issues whatsoever.
if you are OK with the beige color, dell has this for $69.45 shipped plus 30% cash back on capital one. If it works, the total cost should $50.55

Hi

It's personal preference ,

but it's a little overkill to me to store static data , unless you want really fast backup and restore
( assuming you have USB 3.0 or higher ports )

If you only have usb 2.0 ports you will most likely not see any speed benefits from the SSD )

A 2TB mechanical hard drive starts at $62.00 at Best Buy

Ps

Remember important data should always be in at least 2 places at the same time.

Thanks! I checked my email right before I logged into work, and saw the notification. I bought it right away. You can also store your PS5 games on external storage, but you have to move them to the internal NVME SSD or expansion NVME SSD to play them.

Is this overkill to save important documents on SSD instead of spin drive?

It depends on your situation. If you just want to back up your own personal documents and you're going to keep the backup in your house, then I'd probably go with a few less expensive thumb drives (from reputable brands) and makes duplicates just in case one fails. But if you're traveling and need to take your important documents with you then I think something like this is a good choice.

Hi again

Actually, an SSD would be a little faster than mechanical even on usb 2.0

But the value would mostly be wasted.

Probably a thumb drive would be more appropriate. This is better if you are frequently accessing large files or application storage.
