Just to let people know 400 is just the read speed. Write speed is trash. No you will not be loading a bluray rip on this in 30 seconds.
Bought several of these over the last couple of years. Fantastic performance, no parts to break, no cap to lose. This is a great deal (the black one @ $25) on a fabulous flash drive. Get this if you need one, price on this model probably won't be lower on BF
Same price on Samsung.com in case you'd rather get it straight from the source. Plus, extra $1.25 EPP discount.

Edit: some people are reporting shipping is $5 but I can't reproduce that. Shipping appears to be free in my case. So YMMV.

You're comparing a $25 drive to a $60 one. See a problem here? I mean yes the Extreme Pros are faster but they also come at quite a premium. For the price you could get a much faster NVME and toss in a $15 enclosure. At $25 these Samsung bars are pretty nice drives. Certainly the write speed won't win any awards.
Wow, might want to re-read that! But just so nobody else reads your fakenews and passes any judgement on me, I was specifically responding to someone bringing up the DTSE9G2. I do not have and have never owned a BAR, I did look into it and while it does have a lot of good reviews, for my particular use it performs very poorly. NOTHING I posted is $60, I even provided links to the specific products. Try a bit harder before you call someone out.

Back to what I actually am comparing. The $15 Flair to the $42 Extreme Pro and saying it does pretty damn good for the price, I would hands down buy more if the Extreme's weren't so fast.

And of course you can buy an NVME and an external case, but then again we are back to not comparing apples to oranges arent we?

Except the $42 extreme pro is only 128GB not 256GB. I think you are intentionally obfuscating things. This thread is about a 256GB drive not smaller ones and comparing a $25 one to a $60 one is just stupid.

Unfortunately those also have trash write speeds despite being recommended all the time. I have handfuls of those. Great for tools and utilities, but definitely not super fast, or fast @ 100MB/s rated but way slower in real life.

The FLAIR [amazon.com] on the other hand is quite speedy @ 150MB/s and always cheap. I am comparing it to an Extreme Pro [amazon.com] which is basically a pocket SSD that has write speeds up to 380MB/s
Isn't 150Mbps the read speed? The read speed on the samsung bar is like 400Mbps.

My entire post was about speed compared to the Kingston drive I quoted on because I own them and they are crap and I didn't want anyone to buy one thinking they were great. Both drives post the same specs regardless of which size. Stop literally trying to make me look bad to fix your mistake by commenting on my post in the first place, that drive was not even offered in 256 from what I can tell. You screwed up, I apologize for not being more clear when I posted links to exactly the products I was comparing the DTSE9G2 to. You alone are obfuscating things by starting any of this. Lets just stop.

Again I was not comparing to the BAR, I was comparing to the DTSE9G2 that I quoted in the thread. I do think you are correct though so thank you for catching that. I was referencing confusing Amazon specs and I should know better. Real world test reveal much lower speed, but I am telling you the Flair compared to the dtse9g2 is ridiculous. Simple transfers with multiple dtse9g2 drives would take hours sometimes, I dunno, maybe I got a bad batch as they were all purchased at the same time.

Per Amazon
"High-speed USB 3.0 performance of up to 150MB/s(1) [(1) Write to drive up to 15x faster than standard USB 2.0 drives" Thats where I stopped reading, it continues on "(4MB/s); varies by drive capacity. Up to 150MB/s read speed. USB 3.0 port required. Based on internal testing; performance may be lower depending on host device, usage conditions, and other factors; 1MB=1,000,000 bytes]"

This Samsung BAR writes at about 25MB/s (large files, steady speed).

The Samsung USB-C 256GB [a.co] drive for $3 more writes large files at a steady 100MB/s, 4x faster.
For 3 bucks more, and a much smaller form factor, go for the newer model. If you wait, this 256GB UCB-C drive can be as low as $25.

Not sure shy you get downvote. I have this drive and can attest to this fact. It is blazingly fast during read, and the write speed is painfully slow.

I normally only get about 25 MB write speed as well. I do like the drives though, I've had much faster USB drives like the Lexus and it ended up failing which means it writes at 0 MB. laugh out loud Maybe these faster drives just get too hot?

I believe the 256 GB version is faster than the smaller ones. That might be why there are so many mixed opinions on the write speed.

Has anyone else had issues getting this order delivered? They delayed my original delivery by a week, and how it's been delayed another two weeks (the day they were supposed to deliver it)

Same here. Second delay from amazon. I should have ordered it directly from samsung.

Wanted to get from Samsung directly, but couldn't get free shipping. Would say free with my zip code at first then would charge $5 after fully entering address. Shame since they have a discount I could use, but after shipping was still more then Amazon.
This and they had me divert through ID.ME and then didn't offer a military discount. It's like they are scamming for information that they already have on me.
