Nice! I've been waiting for a 6600 to drop under $200. snagging one for my daughters rig. Sims 4 at 2000 FPS
Ah, what it should have launched at. Nice. Combine this with the Micro Center $130 R5 3600 w/Gigabyte b450 combo and you have a cheap 1080p machine.

Wish Nvidia would consider drops on their lower end cards. Team red seems much more consumer friendly this and next generation..
Same thought here. Screw Newegg. I once loved them.

Yup, I built my current AM4 rig back in 2018 and Newegg did not want to give up the rebate. I stated that in my review. We should see more deals in the coming weeks.

The Mech cooler is pretty terrible - I had a 5700x and it was alarmingly toasty. But for this price on a lower tier gpu you it should be fine
I've used this exact card before and it was fine. No complaints. Plenty of 5700x cards shipped with coolers that weren't to spec, maybe you got one. But that was three years ago?

I paid closer to $450, isn't nice those days are past for now?!

About the warranty, why is it bad? It's transferable and requires no proof of purchase. The one I bought lasted three years and that seemed like plenty of time to know if you had a lemon or not. If you think that's bad, Visiontek and the AMD direct store cards really are worse when it comes to warranty transferability and length.

I wish Newegg still did the extended holiday returns. Buying this now locks you in and then you're stuck if something better comes along with the BF deals.

I am sure something better will come alone. Thing is, I want a 7800XT and that will not even be out until sometime next year. It should cost about $799 if they keep to the current MSRP of $999 for the 7900XTX and $899 for the 7900XT.

I considered the 6900XT but everything I have read said it runs hot. So the 6800 or 6800XT would be what I would settle for but those cost $500 and $550 right now and I'm guessing they might go down to $400/$450. Remember this. They will only lower the prices if sales slow and until the 7600/7700/7800's arrive, there is no alternative to the 6800/6800XT/6900XT right now so I am going to guess that the deep discounts on those will only occur once AMD is near ready to ship the replacements which will not be for several months. The problem with paying $550 or even $450 for the 6800XT is that the price is too close to what the 7600/7700 will cost so who wants to pay 80% for old tech when new tech will be out in a few months.

So why are the cheaper cards getting so heavily discounted right now like this one? My best guess is that they are sitting on a ton of them as these cards during the mining days were the only ones most people could afford so they made a ton of them. Now they are stuck with a bunch of them and which the performance being so bad as compared to what is coming they just want to dump what they can.

For $189 I'll use one until the 7800's come out.

Chances are everything I just said is total and compete BS and only time will tell. $189 is still a very fair price for the 6600 and even if it came down another $20 or $30 I would not mind much. Now buying a 6800XT for $550 and then having it drop to $450 would upset me some Smilie

Same here.
AMD just announced their next Gen and its not out yet.

As soon as it comes out I expect even better deals on "previous" gen.

So, I've been out of the loop for a while on video cards. Taking inflation into account, are prices basically back to "normal", or are they still fairly high? I need a new card but can wait.

I was ready to pull the trigger when I saw this pop, but nope, there is a rebate (please put that in title)... From NewEgg nonetheless. So I'll wait for BF deals.

Good price but know that MSI has the worst warranty
I have done a warranty with MSI before, it's just as easy Asus or EVGA.

Okay maybe hold for Black Friday just in case but for under $200 I don't see these going significantly cheaper. I would say it is worth paying maybe $30-$50 (probably no more tha $30 drop) to have now vs waiting until next year. These don't have much room to drop down since they won't be giving them away for free and you are giving up a lot of time that could be spent enjoying games.

For those deciding whether to HODL, consider the utility of the card. I paid $230 at BB for the XFX but I feel I've easily got $50 utility out of it in past month

The price drops will continue but will only slow down as I can't imagine a $190 card has far to fall 🤔

The only reason I wouldn't buy this card is personally I am not happy with Newegg's business practices
