I believe they meant is a lot companies who bought Herman Miller chair for employees would be selling those chairs as they liquidate from bankruptcy and the chair flood the 2nd hand market.

Herman Miller is not itself is not "a lot of companies" and will be fine like you said and will likely provide support for those 2nd hand chairs if any issues come up.

Call a local dealer and you'll likely get Embody or Aeron for under $1k. That's what I did almost 2 years ago, and still love my Embody.

Overpriced compared to what? To getting a $300 gaming chair every 2 years because its cushion goes flat or the staples chairs mesh rips? Think of how bad your chair is right now and how much you spent which now cant be warrantied.
