these cheap phones are great to keep at in the car, at work, or in your bag just in case for emergencies. just remember to at least use them about once a month to keep them active else they could go inactive and then game over.

Yes. If you wait 60 days before transferring the minutes/airtime and haven't added 4+ lines to your account already, you'll also get 10k points per line. 20k points is worth much more than 120 (60*2) days of airtime, so that's usually the way to go (plus then you can unlock the phones and make them more useful as a donation if you just care about the airtime.)

This is essentially 20k points (2x Add-a-Line bonuses) on Tracfone for $30, 20k points gets you a $300 off coupon. That gets you multiple refurbished iPhone XRs you can trade in for a Pixel 7 or for Apple GC credit.

if you are brand new to tracfone dont forget to use a referral code for 5,000 points. then if you want to activate the other phone just add it to your account and get another 10,000 points. google "tracfone referral"

Just got my 2 phones in the mail. Spent about 5 min in chat to get them added to my account. Rep knew exactly what I wanted to do. Applause

20k in my account, 61 days right? laugh out loud

When or what needs to happen to get the 1200min/365 days added to my main account? Is that also after the 61 days?
Quote from seiromem :
I remember reading a post stating that a chuck of points were removed after combining the second line with the main line. The person was told the rep the reason was because one of the lines were removed. Can anyone confirm this? The points in my account have vested and planning on combining the second line with the main line. But I worry that I might lose the points. Thanks
You don't want to change the devices before the points vest. By combining lines, you deactivated it. Wait the 61 days before combining.
Quote from Bravo :
I received my two phones today.
-Chatted with an agent and asked to add a device to the account but not to activate
-10K points shows up right after 10 sec, then I asked to add the second phone
-I saw 20K points showed up, then end the chat
-Turned on 1st phone and connected to wifi
-Tried to activate from the phone, kept failing, then
-Logged on to my account and click Activate, and typed in the IMEI of the phone
-Restarted the phone and tried to make a call. First, it wasn't working, so I restarted the phone, then it worked after the second reboot.
-Repeated the same process for the 2nd phone. Both phones were activated with no issues.
This is the way. The method s/b named AAD-AAL: Add a device, activate a line.

Thanks for the response. If the points indicate they are available, it means they are vested?

Yes, it takes 60 days to vest. Go to your Rewards page, My Activity and you should see a line for Available, Pending and Total. Anything in Pending hasn't vested yet.

"Swapping SIM cards around screws up the countdown timer for your A20 as I found out the hard way. If unlocking doesn't matter to you then you can go wild swapping SIM cards between Tracfone devices. They don't seem to mind."

This is not recommended.
DO NOT swap sim cards on TF Verizon phones, if they find the IMEI isn't registered correctly to the phone it comes with they can deactivate service. It's been happening more often since Verizon bought the TF companies last year. Use a $1 BYOP sim & transfer service the right way.

I have a question unrelated to this. I have a Straight Talk iPhone XR that's still locked; can I add it as a new line using a BYOD sim card (bought from Bestbuy) and get it unlocked after 60 days? I did this to my existing account and chose the $10 plan; by doing this they gave me 10K points, which is great! I just have to wait 60 days for the point to be vested and I'm hoping my ST iPhone will also get unlocked. FYI I can't locate the sim card that came with the XR so that's the reason I have to activate it using a BYOD sim card

you can rebrand phone. I bought a total wireless iphone 11 from Walmart on BF, called tracfone to add to my account. When I activated the phone, it asked for SIM card #, I used original SIM comes with phone, but I believe if the system asks for SIM, you can use your $1 BYOD sim.

if I need to remove 2 lines from my existing account to make room for 2 new lines, do I need to port out , or removing the device from my account also works?

People have said that making any current line changes (beyond adding more lines) may put your pending 20k points at risk. It is a royal pain to get any missing points. The chat can't help. The phone reps don't have the info. Most of the phone reps don't even know there is a 10000 point offer going on.

If you haven't done it already I would port out first then add the other two lines. Good luck.
Do those changes include porting phone #s into TF to replace some of the existing TF #s?

Quote from HunterOne :
There are posts here that people got the 10,000 points per added line to show up in their rewards accounts within seconds after activating a new line, while others did not get the 10,000 points to show up in their account.

Nothing shows up in my account for a day now.

Has anyone been able to resolve these 10K points not added as pending in the account after activation, and how was it done???

Another problem is that this 1200/1200/1200 plan does NOT show up in my account and also does not show up in the Tracfone web site as an available plan.
The 2 new lines with the new phone #s show up as active but no plan data though.

The 1500/1500/1500 plan from a previous line still active, shows up and it's also on the Tracfone web site as an available plan.

How many times did you receive AAL pts this year, before add the 2 phones from this deal?
Quote from HunterOne :
First time I added these 2 lines to the account.
There is a line in the account that was added a couple of years ago, so with these 2 new lines there'll be 3.
An Update to the above about the not credited as pending 20K points:

I called the TF CS #, 1-800-867-7183, and asked for a supervisor.
After explaining the problem of the missing 20K points to the CS rep, I was transferred to a higher level that might have been Corporate, and a very nice person promised to resolve this, I got a ticket #, and 3 days later the 20K points were listed as pending in my TF Rewards account.
Was also told that I'll get a call back that the issue was resolved but never did.

So, there is a way to get these 20K points IF you activated the 2 lines online without any rep help and the points never shows up.
Insist but be nice, and do it ASAP.
The first line TF reps are not competent or not allowed to resolve this issue.

Ok, maybe that's the way to do it. When I added the line online I chose the BYOD option, which then asked for the BYOD sim card, then it asked for the IMEI of the iPhone XR. However the device under my account only shows the sim card # and doesn't have any reference to the iPhone XR. I guess I'll wait for 60 days to pass to see if it does get unlocked. I'm using 1000 rewards points to get another month (paid $10 for 1st month). Worst case I got 10K points out of this activation if it doesn't unlock the XR.

Added 2 lines. The first line setup was screwed up by the first rep who also hang up.
Calling back, I asked for the Rewards dept and the rep there resolved the first line screw up and added the second line and the 20K points showed up within minutes while I was talking to the Rewards rep, and both lines showed up in my existing account.

Yeah I found out the hard way. I was using an existing active BYOD sim card on a new Straight Talk iPhone SE 2020 (didn't use the card that came with it and somehow also misplaced it somewhere 🤷🏻) and I recently used 10K points to get another year on the account and the service went dead. Had to drop by Bestbuy to get another BYOD sim card and was able to reactivate service on that iPhone. But plan is still good. It's good through 2025 now. So I have a few TF phones and I'm keeping a list of all the sim cards that pair with them and will only use those cards to activate those phones if I need to activate them; otherwise I have to go buy a BYOD sim card for $1

Just to be clear, did you have to reinsert the Sim card back into the original phone that it activated on to get the SMS confirmation number for transferring balance ? That is part of the typical online automated activation process as I understand.

If the process I describe above is true, then one could take a chance w/o a dedicated $1 BYOP Sim card until TF deactivates it, at that point, then get the Sim card and reactivate on the original phone. It is a bit inconvenient and one loses a day or 2 of service, as long as that risk is understood, it could work for some people who don't use TF much anyway.

I really don't know. When I got the Straight Talk iPhone for a family member, I was too lazy to properly (using the sim card it came with, which also had 1 month of service) do the device swap. Somehow I was able to use her BYOD sim card from her old phone on the new iPhone and it worked. Fast forward to this past week the service went dead (plan on account is still good) so I had to buy a new BYOD sim card to reactivate the service on that iPhone. In my case I used the included sim card w/ that iPhone for something else, threw it in a pile of TF cards (or even threw it away) and don't remember which one it was that paired with the iPhone so I had to get a new BYOD sim card to re setup the iPhone.. A lot of these sim cards are from Straight Talk iPhone deals I bought and unlocked to give to family members to use on T-Mobile. I need to find out which ones are paired with them and throw out those sim cards

I just did 2 more today through chat with the original steps of adding the device for later activation and all 20k points showed up immediately.

Edit: got a bonus I guess, one of the phones activated with double min and double the data, but the appropriate amount of texts. Not sure why but I'll take it.
