Graphics:NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 3070 Laptop GPU, 1340MHz* at 105W (1290MHz Boost Clock+50MHz OC, 80W+25W Dynamic Boost), 8GB GDDR6;
Edit: To be fair it still has 8GB VRAM. I'm sure there are scenarios where this may be more useful. It's not terrible for the price, but the display and GPU are a little lacking. But you get ASUS build quality. I'd still take it over the faster Acer or Gigabyte models in the range, but the $1,100 G15 Advantage is a way better deal.

You seem to have a good finger on the pulse. I use my laptop to capture game footage from consoles to stream. Looking to upgrade from a ryzen 3550h/GTX 1050 to something. I'd prefer to stick with an NVIDIA GPU due to Nvenc as that seems to really help if and when I do stream games from the computer as well.
Ok so all that said, yes I love the looks of the G15, but AMD GPU etc. Would you suggest this laptop for my use-case, or would I be ok with one of the Acers with a larger screen, but the smaller vram (but also power use) of the RTX 3050? I like the flexibility with my real-hardware setup of a laptop so using my desktop is kind of out.
Sorry if that's complicated, appreciate the feedback regardless!
Edit: Went with it. Weighed the options and I think for my needs and wants this is the best bet. Even if there's 3060 deals, I just trust ASUS laptops more (my current tuf is going on 4 years!) and the 8gb VRAM should be plenty for the biggest need.
A gigabyte laptop went for around 700 a few days ago featuring a 130W 3060 and a much better screen.

You need a really premium cooling solution to get close to the benchmark numbers for real world use. Just because it says 150w, doesn't mean it's not going to start thermal throttling. The ampere chips are amazing but they are dense and have quick voltage and thermal spikes, it's allot less of an issue in a desktop.
That Strix runs fairly cool for hours and if your not gaming, the battery lasts for several hours like it's not even a gaming laptop.
