No reason at all not to install 2x 16GB modules, it would work fine.

Also I just noticed the specs (on the SD staff post) for this say DDR4-2666 so no need to pay a (small) premium for DDR4-3200 since it will run at 2666 anyway.

For example 2x 16GB DDR4-2666 laptop modules for $58.49 LINK [amazon.com]

I haven't gotten the laptop yet, have received the RAM you recommended. However, I noticed on the product page in answer to a question that an HP expert said the max RAM upgrade on this is to 16GB. Is that because they're assuming someone would buy one additional 8GB module, or is it that it wouldn't accept the 32GB(2 x 16GB) for some reason?

The HP "official" spec for maximum memory may very well be 16GB even though the laptop can use up to 64GB.

I don't know exactly why companies list specs for maximum RAM that are below what the hardware actually supports. But it is not uncommon. Apple especially has been notorious in the past for this, and some people think it's because they want to encourage people to buy new laptops instead of upgrading old ones.

Limitations can also be deliberate, created by the manufacturer as a marketing strategy, to differentiate various models in the marketplace or, perhaps, because the larger memory modules were not available in large quantities.

Crucial's memory upgrade tool doesn't have this exact laptop yet but here's a link for the same laptop with a different CPU (Part number HP 15-dw3033dx). You can see Crucial knows it can use up to 2x 32GB modules.

For good measure here's another site showing 64GB support for all HP Laptop 15-dw3xxx series laptops.

I hate to just leave it at "trust me bro." Maybe someone else can chime in that I am not full of crap here. laugh out loud

Thanks for taking the time for this reply. Sure enough the damn laptop seems to be lost in transit for me, 🤦🏾 ♂️. Thinking of picking up the OfficeMax Vivobook for $300 with $25 gift card instead.

So one downside of this laptop, silver keys with very small/light-ish print.
Not an issue for me, but for my mom who has to look at the keyboard. Oh well.

I literally just bought two. One of the laptops' fan is loud at idle. I just updated the laptops. Is this normal?

I can't stand laptops that are barely idling and the fan gets as loud as a jet engine. If anyone had one, please let me know if you are encountering this.

Staples has a 14 day return policy, not counting the weekends and Christmas in the 14 days. Holiday extensions do not work for electronics they said.

Thank you in advance!
