Might buy one just for the remote. Resell on eBay with my old remote.

The 1st gen Apple TV 4k remote has less buttons and no directional pad. It just uses a trackpad for navigation. Most people prefer the one that was introduced with 2nd gen 4k model.

You'd use the remote for a gen 1 or gen 3? If a gen 1 why not swap everything out?
