Extra 64 gb storage base
Thunderbolt USB port
Better audio recording for video
$399 for the M1 iPad Air is nothing to sneeze at of course and would be a comparable value but all these extras (storage, ProMotion, Thunderbolt, FaceID) is well worth another $150
100% agree.. well worth it for me, too. But I completely understand that $150 might not be for some people. with that you could buy a case or two and the apple pencil. if I had the option to buy just the pro ipad or the air + case + pencil for someone.. I'd probably go the latter. I could 100% live w/o the extra storage and pro-motion. thunderbolt isn't overkill for most users. faceID is a luxury and it just comes down to getting used to using that fingerprint sensor on the side.
all that said, if ipadOS wasn't so restrictive/trash (for more powerusers/pros and not just casuals) and could take advantage of the thunderbolt speeds with a proper file system and actually make the m1 chip useful with a more desktop like experience with the OS or even just apps (like how samsung does with their OS and DEX)
microLED is much better and more expensive
I have both a miniLED ipad and a regular.. when using in actual real world stuff.. it doesn't matter.. both are great screens. tbh.. the MINI led is actually more annoying when watching certain dark content due to bloom. But most content doesn't suffer too badly. I can't remember what it was.. but it was a show and there was a dark scene and the mini LED completely ruined it because it was blooming so badly I couldn't make out the areas of the scene that had more brightness. But most of the time, if you're not watching dark content, the mini led does look very nice. "black levels" are only good if the content isn't completely ruined by the bloom

Other than that, best Air 5 deal for general public is 64GB for $500 which makes this m1 pro 11 3rd Gen much better option for only $50 more!!
I used this comparison [apple.com] and I see almost no differences between the 5th Gen Air and this 3rd gen Pro...

For those wondering, M2 battery drains faster than the M1.

I'd gladly choose the Pro at $550 over the Air at $500.
