Great deal! I have this lock for over an year and works great. Opens in an instant with fingerprint unlike my previous august lock where I had to wait until the Bluetooth connection is established.
It's interesting how LPL literally reviewed this lock few days ago, and now it's on sale.

I haven't had such luck. I have both the key pad version and the fingerprint with keypad. I found the finger print to be very unreliable. both my wife and have to scan multiple times. in many cases it takes 4-5 fingerprint tries to get it to unlock. I found myself using the keypad rather then the fingerprint scanner as it ends up taking longer with so many misreads.

I've re-registered my fingers many times, tried different fingers, always the same very inconstant results for both my wife and I. We do have the z-wave version which I doubt has a different scanner in it.

I do like the overall look and functionality of the base keypad lock and would buy it again. I'd avoid the extra expense of the fingerprint reader as it's just too low quality. We have the z-wave (not part of this sale).

Would anyone know if the numbers light up at night? Also, is Woot's return policy basically Amazon's since they own them now? I have not bought from Woot since they were bought so idk Wink
Yes, it does light up but you have to press "any" button first to light up the numbers.

This site has the newer version of little extra at $145

has the Updated version of this lock (inbuilt WIFI, No WIFI adapter required)
Which one is better ?
I would say it all comes down to how much worse the battery life is. Having the wifi and everything built into the main device is goign to suck the batteries more than when you have a bridge near your door.

That is the biggest downside of these old units. If you don't have a plug near your door you are sol.

How's the battery life? Reviews claim battery runs out monthly. And it only takes alkaline battery. Rechargeable doesn't work.
I've had mine a little over a year and only replaced the batteries once.

Has anyone installed one of these on a security screen door? My inlaws have a door like this in the front of their enclosed patio. It would be nice to put a smart lock on it but the deadbolt is larger than usualy. Its one of those Titan lock/handle sets. Not sure if this could fit in place of something like that

Don't look so good according to these tests, most of which seem to still be current issues (other than the API): https://www.pentestpartners.com/s...ltra-lock/

I have and love this lock. Zero fingerprint issues, just you one thumb and register it twice from a ton of angles... I probably replace batteries every 9 months or so, no issue, just use an alkaline battery like Amazon basics...

Auto lock is a game changer, I love it. It's all auto lock and fingerprints for me. Wifi bridge is cool but realistically I've never needed to use it.

Has anyone installed this on a double door? That's what I have for the entrance and the deadbolt can sometimes be hard to turn even with hand. Thinking that might be a problem for autolock

Nice find! Since I have another door with a fingerprint, I will get the non-fingerprint and non-wifi version. It's a good deal for $ 74 plus tax.

I have similar issues with in screen phone fingerprint sensors. Sometimes I have to lick a dry finger for it to work. Could be that or a faulty unit.

I bought the one with the wifi adapter earlier this month. I have mixed feelings.

First, the end of the deadbolt (the part inside the door hole) was a bit bigger than my previous door hole. I had to dig out a little of the door to accommodate the extra piece at the end of it. I also had to dig a deeper hole into the place where the deadbolt slides in to. It requires about 1.1" and my previous Schlage smart lock fit in like .90"

Then once I got the lock installed it wouldn't stop opening and closing automatically. I was in the app trying to add a user and it must have locked and unlocked 15 times. Sadly the beep sound it makes (which you can disable and I have now) is irritating and hearing it go off 30 times in a row was frustrating and it also is the same tone that my dog strongly dislikes. He gets really bad anxiety with certain beeps.

I've contacted support and they may be sending me a replacement, but I'm still within my woot return policy, so I might just do that instead. I'm not sure if I will replace it with the same lock if I go that route. I might go back to my Schlage.

The lock would constantly say jammed and not function whether the door was opened or shut. I disconnected the wire from the outside to the inside and removed the batteries. Waited a bit and reconnected it. It would work a couple of times and then say jammed again. The lock itself has no blockage and slides in and out manually just fine. I then loosened the screws in the middle under the main unit as that was a recommended fix. Then putting it all back together it worked again for a couple of tries before saying jammed.

Anyways I left town for a couple days and when I was back the lock magically started functioning properly, for the most part. It's been a little over a week since I've had a jam, but if you have a jam you're SOL if you don't have another way in the house.

I'm also having issues with the auto-unlock feature. It will auto-unlock when I'm in the garage, or sometimes when I'm inside the house and walk near the door, but if I stand in front of my door it will not auto-unlock, I've stood there for a couple of minutes, way longer than i would be willing to normally. So I have to use the fingerprint sensor, which I will say has worked great for me so far.

Being I don't trust this lock to work every time, I'm not sure I am keeping it. I only have a couple more days to decide!

I have a couple of these locks on our home and they are great, way faster and easier to use than our previous kwikset wifi versions. I've been really impressed with the battery life as the kwikset was needing to be changed every couple of months, but I haven't done that yet with the Utec 8 months in.
