Time to pull out my annual Echelon to Peloton post. I did all the research in 2020 and put together what you need to do after buying this bike. Reposting it here:
Required items you'll need:
Echelon bike[walmart.com] Peloton app[onepeloton.com]
Peloton subscription (Note, if you have a friend who has a bike subscription you can ask if they'll create an account for you instead to save some money)
Two streaming devices
One to connect to the Echelon app[echelonfit.com] to display your statistics, usually a phone
One to connect to the Peloton app to display the classes, usually a tablet
Optional add-ons to improve the experience
Wahoo cadence sensor[amazon.com] - iOS support only - this attaches to your bike's gearshaft and can be connected to the Peloton app to integrate your cadence. You'll already be getting cadence information from the Echelon app on your phone, but if you want it to display in the Peloton app, you'll need this too.
Polar Verity heart rate sensor[amazon.com] - this wraps around your arm and can provide heart rate data to the Peloton app. Instructors will mention heart rate zones to target in advanced classes, so if you want to be able to follow along you'll need this, but it's not required. You will also get more accurate calorie burn counts with your heart rate being measured.
Note: If you are an iOS user and have an Apple Watch, install the Peloton Watch App. It will ping you when your class starts and use your watch as a heart rate monitor.
Bicycle mat[amazon.com] - The official Echelon mat is 27"x47", so this should fit underneath it to catch your sweat and protect your carpet/hardwood floor.
1-3lb dumbbells[amazon.com] - In some classes, the instructor will tell you to do some lifts, so you'll need a set of light weights
Peloton to Echelon resistance chart[etsy.com] - The instructor will call out numbers to change your bicycle resistance during the class, but the Echelon uses a different scale so you can print this out or buy one to have as a handy reference.
Gel bicycle seat cover[amazon.com] - If you are gonna be spinning for a long time, the gel will help ease any pain you have in your backside
To get the baseline experience done, you'll need to setup your Echelon bike as described in the manual. After physical setup is complete, download the Echelon app to your phone, and then plug in your bike and start the pairing process.
Next, if you bought either of the optional sensors you'll need to pair them with their various ipad/android tablet apps to update their firmware.
Once paired, to get your Echelon app into freestyle mode to display your statistics, go to the bottom right of the app, select "More", then "Freestyle Ride".
Finally, you will then be able to load the Peloton app on your tablet, select a class, and start going.
Note: Since this model has a screen integrated, you might not need to download the Echelon app and use your phone for your riding statistics. I can't confirm as I own the previous model that had no screen, but sure looks that way.
Edit (never mind i though this was the sport version (not the sport S)
I don't even have the app.. There is a third party app "bike stats for Echelon bikes" that shows all without log in or pay...
It is free 100% i use it everyday really good bike. Super quiet... Looks good..
Just bought this since these tend to sell out every time I try and snag a deal. The great thing is this model comes with a screen so you don't need to BYOD. Also the Echelon Connect sub is pretty great compared to Peloton so no need to go outside the ecosystem. Worst case, I have a TV to put behind the bike for Peloton streaming if needed.
Great price for what you get from a reputable brand.
Do you need the subscription for normal biking / stats tracking?

Even if no app.. The bike works just fine...

From echelon:
Does Echelon bike work without subscription?
You can use the App in the Freestyle area (in more sections of app) without a subscription. The bike will give you your stats without a subscription via the Freestyle rides. You can ride the Freestyle rides, and see the stats during and after the ride, but they will not be saved in the Progress Area.Oct 27, 2020 https://echelonfit.zendesk.com ' en-us

As a success story i lost 11lbs in 5 weeks after i got it.. And i have maintained the weight... Flat stomach finally... Jogging can't do that (for me) .
I have the Amazon version. Again i haven't paid a dime to use it (besides initial bike price obviously)
What type of resistance? Magnetic, friction, ? Flywheel weight?
I have a pooboo D616 on the way for $270 and I'm wanting to compare the two bikes. It's magnetic resistance with a 40lb flywheel but the bike only weighs 60lbs and is much lighter than the echelon.
