Time to pull out my annual Echelon to Peloton post. I did all the research in 2020 and put together what you need to do after buying this bike. Reposting it here:
Required items you'll need:
Echelon bike[walmart.com] Peloton app[onepeloton.com]
Peloton subscription (Note, if you have a friend who has a bike subscription you can ask if they'll create an account for you instead to save some money)
Two streaming devices
One to connect to the Echelon app[echelonfit.com] to display your statistics, usually a phone
One to connect to the Peloton app to display the classes, usually a tablet
Optional add-ons to improve the experience
Wahoo cadence sensor[amazon.com] - iOS support only - this attaches to your bike's gearshaft and can be connected to the Peloton app to integrate your cadence. You'll already be getting cadence information from the Echelon app on your phone, but if you want it to display in the Peloton app, you'll need this too.
Polar Verity heart rate sensor[amazon.com] - this wraps around your arm and can provide heart rate data to the Peloton app. Instructors will mention heart rate zones to target in advanced classes, so if you want to be able to follow along you'll need this, but it's not required. You will also get more accurate calorie burn counts with your heart rate being measured.
Note: If you are an iOS user and have an Apple Watch, install the Peloton Watch App. It will ping you when your class starts and use your watch as a heart rate monitor.
Bicycle mat[amazon.com] - The official Echelon mat is 27"x47", so this should fit underneath it to catch your sweat and protect your carpet/hardwood floor.
1-3lb dumbbells[amazon.com] - In some classes, the instructor will tell you to do some lifts, so you'll need a set of light weights
Peloton to Echelon resistance chart[etsy.com] - The instructor will call out numbers to change your bicycle resistance during the class, but the Echelon uses a different scale so you can print this out or buy one to have as a handy reference.
Gel bicycle seat cover[amazon.com] - If you are gonna be spinning for a long time, the gel will help ease any pain you have in your backside
To get the baseline experience done, you'll need to setup your Echelon bike as described in the manual. After physical setup is complete, download the Echelon app to your phone, and then plug in your bike and start the pairing process.
Next, if you bought either of the optional sensors you'll need to pair them with their various ipad/android tablet apps to update their firmware.
Once paired, to get your Echelon app into freestyle mode to display your statistics, go to the bottom right of the app, select "More", then "Freestyle Ride".
Finally, you will then be able to load the Peloton app on your tablet, select a class, and start going.
Note: Since this model has a screen integrated, you might not need to download the Echelon app and use your phone for your riding statistics. I can't confirm as I own the previous model that had no screen, but sure looks that way.
Edit (never mind i though this was the sport version (not the sport S)
I don't even have the app.. There is a third party app "bike stats for Echelon bikes" that shows all without log in or pay...
It is free 100% i use it everyday really good bike. Super quiet... Looks good..
What type of resistance? Magnetic, friction, ? Flywheel weight?
I have a pooboo D616 on the way for $270 and I'm wanting to compare the two bikes. It's magnetic resistance with a 40lb flywheel but the bike only weighs 60lbs.
Edit: nevermind... Bike has screen.. May not be able to load the 3rd party app
I run the 3rd party app on my phone, it syncs over Bluetooth and can get the stats from the bike while I watch Peloton classes on my iPad or TV (Roku app). Peloton digital subscriptions are cheaper than Echelon, and the 3rd party app converts the resistance to Peloton. It's messy but works

Not sure, the regular Echelon Sport doesn't have a screen, but this is the same price so at least you can take advantage of the free Echelon subscription to get started

Ya but you're paying for that screen one way or another. The ex15 is magnetic and seems better built but has no screen
Long story short, the reviewer prefers the EX. He says he likes the handles more and the resistance dial is less "plasticy."
HOWEVER, I just read this in a review by a fellow SD'er here:
"For what it's worth, I bought a Connect Sport around the beginning of December 2020 and it seems like they changed it so that the resistance knobs between the two models now match. Also, the handlebar configuration is still different for the Connect Sport but they have added the lip to the phone holder area.
IMO, they seem to be even more similar now than when that video was made, so whichver one is cheaper (the EX Prime if it comes back at this price) is probably the better buy."

Does anyone know Walmart's return policy on open box items? I want to get this for Christmas, but hesitant to open and assemble if Walmart won't give a full refund if we have regrets within 90 days and want to return.
