No, you need to do your own research. I just don't want to tell you something wrong and am not 100% sure about the 6800s. But allot of the rtx cards are so voltage limited that it's ridiculous. Even reducing the power settingings and underclocking it, it may still be beyond the power envelope of the 3060 your comparing it to.

I'm just saying I'm honestly skeptical of this.

The 6800m that I got for my GF is almost completely voltage unlocked and everything is customizable... I can run it straight up to 100 Celsius in a matter of minutes with the fans blaring or set it to game for hours below 70 Celsius with the fans silent.

We game all day and watch TV sometimes on the weekend.... The rtx performance is amazing, for about an hour.... After I programmed the voltage stages and the fan curve her 6800m is embarrassing my legion 5 pro with a full power 3080(because it still thermal throttles) in all day gaming sessions, it's not even close.

I'm completely brand agnostic, I have a Intel/Nvidia desktop build. And tend to favor Nvidia/Intel more in desktops.

Most of us don't just run a benchmark, or game for 45 minutes.

I've never seen a laptop in real life usage that compares to the g15 strix ae I got my girlfriend and I just ordered another one for myself. The screen is excellent, I like it even better then the Lenovo high brightness one, the Lenovo screen is better then most, but I never used full brightness or HDR on it because it made everything look terrible and washed out and made the color accuracy even worse, the settings I use? The Asus screen is clearly better and has better color accuracy and contrast. It's a very high quality ips screen close to OLED levels.

I'll try to find you the YouTube video showing a real life comparison of the g15 screen vs the legion 5 pro.

The metal feels like metal and the plastic is so high quality that it almost feels better then metal, you can open it with one hand easily but there is more screen wobble then I would like, if you really intentionally put pressure on it and try to twist it .

And you no what? She uses it for school, like it's not even a gaming laptop, the battery lasts for 7-10 hours depending on what settings you click on, and it does it all automatically when you unplug it. it's not comparable to a modern ultra portable but it's pretty damn portable and thin, smaller and lighter then a textbook for sure.

And also, the build quality and layout is excellent, everything is easy to access. The ram, the SSD slots, the battery, the screen.

I feel completely confident in replacing the screen, or battery, or accessing things and repasting it or whatever.

gotcha but if i have to lower the wattage then i might as well get a lower spec model for a cheaper price.. I also read there are quality issues with the screen, sounding more like a hit or miss .

It's difficult to explain but this laptop feels so much better than most other gaming laptops. Not sure what the difference is, but I wish they all were made the same way.

I have this laptop and am returning it tomorrow. It has a lot of pros, the main reason I am returning it is because it has pretty significant backlight glow in the corners. It's annoying in a dark room and simply unacceptable at this price point.

Pros:
Well built
Keyboard is nice to type on
Portable form factor
Fantastic screen (except for bleed and IPS glow)
6800s is plenty fast for the QHD resolution
Can run older games or newer with slightly lower settings while on USB-C power
Armory Crate software gives you decent control over things like fan curves

Cons:
Backlight bleed
It was getting pretty toasty out of the box while it was doing updates
Fairly chunky power brick
720p webcam

Was $1299 this morning - just increased back to $1399. Hold tight and I bet it will drop back down between now and Christmas.

That was the 6700S model.

The 6800S model in this thread has never been lower than $1399.99.

Is that good for a high end mobile GPU?

I have this laptop and it is excellent. There is some IPS glow in the bottom corners but it is only noticeable if the screen is completely black(for me anyway). Just upgraded it to 40GB of ram and a 2TB SK Hynix P41. Stupidly fast.

I bought the 6700s version for $1299 yesterday knowing this sale would come back.

Thermals and noise are always concerns in a 14" laptop, and the 6700s has slightly lower wattage so I went with that one. Both GPUs are in the same ballpark, it's not like a game will be unplayable on one and not the other.
Exactly. If this laptop is going to be your primary gaming rig, then fine, go get the upgrade. But if this is to be used as a portable gaming machine, stick with the lower wattage 6700s. You won't benefit in any considerable capacity but will add heat and noise.
