The included 8GB (1x8GB , 1Rx16) ram is throw away, you will need to upgrade just to launch some games as the iGPU shares 2GB of you included 8GB and 6GB is simply not enough these days.
I suggest this 32GB (2x16GB , 2Rx8) kit from Timetec :

The stock SSD is a 2242 size which can be upgraded. Used models from SK Hynix are good, there are also new options from Sabrent.
Inside the box lenovo includes the 2.5" SSD adapter to add an additional SSD.2.5" I installed a sapre drive I had laying around and the process was fairly easy. You can also add an addition 2280 / 2242 / 2230 NVMe SSD in place of the 2.5" SSD but you will need to supply a m.2 standoff.

I haven't run into any issues with the power brick throttling but others have, you can find compatible 170w models for around $25.
Lenovo Vantage allows for power / fan profiles and even a bit of overclocking on the GPU. ALT + Q allows you to switch power profiles on the fly. In performance mode with the OC maxed out, this laptop clocked in benchmarks on par with the fastest 3050ti models around.
Fans are a bit loud but temps are decent, I re-pasted with Thermal Grizzly Kryonaught and only dropped a degree or two so it's not worth doing IMO.
For the price you probably wont get anything better anytime soon. Highly Recommended.
FYI, you don't need the $70 170W charger to fix the battery drain issue, any 170W slim tip Lenovo charger is compatible. I got one for $20 used on fleabay and it solved the issue. Also a brand new Silicon Power 8GB stick of RAM goes for about $20 on Amazon. Really worth the ~$40 extra

Are you referring to the PSU issue where lenovo didn't supply the higher PSU?
Yes that's right, the laptop eventually gets to very low battery (while plugged in) and the performance drops immensely.

What are you using the laptop for? This has a dedicated GPU for gaming.
This is for my son. So far only Valorant which works fine on Acer.
Also, Acer has 60hz vs this has 120hz. Can I get 120hz display performance if I use Monitor with 120hz capacity on Acer? Acer has thunderbolt port.
Acer has 16gb ram, 512 ssd vs this has 8gb, 256gb ssd. Also, Acer has I7 12th Gen processor.
+ Lightweight
+ Quiet for the price point
+ Runs relatively cool can actually game while having it on my lap
I definitely recommend this laptop especially if you are able to get it a little cheaper.

Anything graphic heavy is going to benefit from having a dedicated GPU. If he plans on gaming I would get this one. You could always upgrade the drive and ram for a little more. A different monitor isn't going to make the graphics better if your computer can't process it.
I'm seeing nothing mentioning that and this review:
How isnt the RTX 3050ti able to run my game at anything above 1920-1080. I had an older razer with an gtx 1660ti, that was able to push above that. Dont buy if playing to play on monitor. The hdmi port isnt connected to the gpu. Waste of money
