I'm really surprised that this hasn't gotten more traction (comments).
Yes, AC not AX, but for may this would suit their purpose very inexpensively.

If I buy 2 set of 2 packs, can all of them link together for 4 nodes mesh?

same here..

Highly doubt it.

Stability is key for most everyone How stable are these? How many wireless devices do they support? 10 -30 - 40?
Agree. Continuing with Asus ac1900 tmo ones for now, as they would be better. Thank you!

If you do not care about privacy, go ahead and buy Chinese network products.

I too own 3 of the Asus AC 1900 tmo ones, and basically only have one hooked up in middle of my home, and that is enough, so far. I have the other 2 1900's in box, and did set it up for mesh, but it was overkill for my home.

Now, I did buy 2 2packs of this mesh device. I am on backorder. So, can anyone compare the Asus 1900 to the item in this thread.

I was thinking of plugging in one of these TCL's into back of my 1900 and create a secondary guest wifi signal, and let my neighbor test one of these TCL's to see if she gets some of my wifi. I would probably put MAIN TCL near 1900, put another TCL at corner of my home closest to neighbor , and hand the 3rd one to neighbor to see if she gets wifi in her home.

For 25 dollars for 2 of these TCL's it is worth it to me to tinker with them. Share your experience and let us know.

I did my research and the main difference was AC1900 vs AC1200 with ac1900 being better, ipv6 compatibility in asus

1900 mb/s vs 1167 Mb/s Wi-Fi 5

I have the TMO ASUS router too. Can these be connected to that in a mesh? If so, I will give it a shot.

Yeah, we both need others that have the ASUS 1900 and these TCL's to see what the possibilities are. I mostly would just buying these TCL's if it extends range on guest network , ... lending the TCL to neighbor to experiement with extended range. My 1900 will stay the same for me (main account), and this guest TCL might be interesting . Hopefully, others that are in our situation will report back if it works great or just not that great. But I'm only out 50 bucks for 2 of the 2 packs. It's a new tech toy to play with. Smilie

Yes, Aimesh works fine for me. I think Asus has better malware protection and QoS. Not sure if tcl has that.

Why on earth would it have 2 gigabit ports if it can't do backhaul? Cmon now...think before posting.
Do you have this setup with backhaul? I bought the system a few months ago and tried setting it up via backhaul and it cant.
I even went as far as to call tech support to try to remedy the situation and they confirmed it cannot be done.

There is no primary node, all of them can be primary.

Notwithstanding a2018 vulnerability in TCL android TV's [pcmag.com] that was subsequently patched by TCL, the only documented vulnerability I could find for TCL routers is this article about serialized data in the Proto Buffers library [talosintelligence.com] which doesn't appear to be malicious. Hope this helps!

I have an old Linksys ea7300. Are these TCL routers better than that?

As a consumer you have very little privacy in the US. If you have a cell phone you are tracked. Most of the apps on there share your data. If you have Internet at home, through your phone or through an ISP, your data is harvested. You have cable? Your data is harvested, they know what you watch, when you watch. Have a computer? Almost certainly your data is harvested and shared in multiple ways. Do you have electronics that connect to the internet? Vacuums, refrigerators, TVs, streaming sticks or boxes? All track data. Most of us aren't important enough to worry much about them having that data. You almost certainly not a target except for advertising and generic demographics. If you work in the government, certain NGOs, are an executive, engineer, or other worker of a few very large corporations with very proprietary IP, or a supporter of anti-government groups (any government) then you might be on their radar… but I can guarantee that in that case you have a lot more to worry about than your wireless router. If you aren't, you can live your life off grid so they can't see the sites that you go to in your browser - or maybe realize that the hugely small percentage of a chance that you will ever see any sort of ramification from "Chinese" electronics is so minuscule that you can go in with life without a tin foil hat.
