A small group of people are overreacting about this because of a youtuber. First they said it was a "major breach" and now steadily everyone is backpedaling and realizing no data was compromised.

So Eufy put up disclosures about push notifications for thumbnails and modified the way their web portal worked. For most of us that is enough. Especially for external monitoring. Most of us on slickdeals bought these to avoid the subscription fee and Eufy works great for that.
Incorrect.

Its more than that. I will also remind EVERYONE that Eufy had a HUGE mess up a year or two ago where YOUR account had access to SOMEONE ELSE'S cameras for nearly an hour.

Eufy is a junk company. Don't do it. Look elsewhere. Check out Aqara.

I have the Eufy 2C (1080P) and 2C pro (2K) cameras with Homebase2 (2nd generation Eufy products). People aren't detected until about 3 - 5 seconds after they enter the viewing area if they are detected at all . But I have also gotten the same results when I tried Ring, Arlo & Blink systems.

A friend of mine tested the same brands as I did and got similar results to mine. He switched to a hardwired system and didn't get any better results than the wireless brands. Since I can't return my Eufy security products anymore, I'm stuck using them until I hear of a much better system.

I have a homebase 3 and s300 and s330 cameras and they have the same issues that pretty much all battery cameras have— they don't have the battery life to record 24/7 so they rely on a PIR sensor to detect motion first and then they start recording. This often happens late because the built-in PIR sensor has a limited range so even though the camera can see to the end of your 40-foot driveway, the PIR sensor can't detect motion that far away. If your homebase supports adding alarm components and it supports 'automation' (under the security tab) then you can fix the situation. If you add a motion sensor (they are wireless and battery powered) on, say, the back side of your mailbox post at the end of your driveway and then have an automation that triggers your driveway camera to record when the mailbox motion sensor detects motion then you have recordings as soon as someone steps onto your driveway. Once I figured this out, I fixed all of my late recording issues by adding motion detectors watching the approaches to my property. The stand-alone motion detectors seem to have a much greater range than the ones built into the cameras. Another upside is that PIR sensors work by detecting movement of things emanating (body) heat so things that fool optical motion detection like moving tree branches and shadows and grass won't trigger a PIR sensor. Things like squirrels will unless you tell the motion detector you have a dog during installation configuration so it only looks for larger (human) objects.

What alternative is there now? For years I've recommended Eufy as an alternative to Ring and Nest to many friends and family. I was also a beta tester for them. Very reliable and they just work. I had so much trouble with Ring and Amazon's data practices aren't any better with ring.

For me had they disclosed this I wouldn't care but I am debating switching everything out just on principle. Yet every other free alternative is going to have this same issue. Wish eufy would handle this better but shows the true colors I guess

Anker is the Devil, and has zero regards to your privacy, I will not support a shady Company like this. Amazon needs to boot them as a vendor. They recently got caught uploading images of people into the cloud with no encryption etc on their doorbell cameras under the Eufy brand. It's all over the internet, and it's very troubling. Apparently you can log into a camera an view a live stream via VLC media player without any authentication required!

BUYER BEWARE from Anker or Eufy products.
