I also set mine up last week and managed to get the Echelon proprietary apps off the tablet using some of the information posted here [xda-developers.com]. Note that this is not a simple, quick or necessarily straightforward process, but the end result should be a tablet that still connects to the bike and can be configured with 3rd party apps.

I had no intention of using the Echelon app simply because 99% of it's functionality is tailored toward having a subscription. As soon as I saw the freestyle window as a full screen ad with a tiny stats bar at the bottom, I knew that app was coming off. There's supposed to be a way to re-load the Echelon app if you want to keep using it but I haven't figured that out yet.

I paid for the qdomyos-zwift app off the Amazon appstore and installed that on the tablet instead. It has a relatively basic interface but displays all the important info I need (cadence, speed, resistance level, etc.). It's also able to interact with the Peleton app if desired, which I hear good things about. For now, I have Plex & YouTube Vanced loaded on the tablet and run that with the qdomyos-zwift app in the background or in split screen.

EDIT: I was finally able to re-load the Echelon app after following step 5 on post 532 [xda-developers.com]. Installing the app this way allows you to do everything the stock Echelon app would (including update the bike itself) but will not firmware update the tablet and lock it back down in the process.
if you are interested in buying this or you've already bought it, check this thread out
https://forum.xda-developers.com/...m.4023915/

it shows you how to hack the echelon tablet to install the apps you like, and also to split the screen to display qdomyos-zwift and peleton app together, so you can enjoy the peleton app with a more reasonable monthly fee
YES! Right on time! I was running out of places to hang all my black Friday clothes.

Is that a better than the schwinn from.best buy for $500?
It's not a better bike, no. This one has a 15lb flywheel, while the IC4 has a 40lb, which is as heavy as non-commercial spin bikes get. The heavier the wheel, the sturdier the ride and the more challenging you can make it, from what I gather. That said, 15lb is probably more than enough for most people.

The only complaints I've read about the IC4 are about the pedals, but as long as you install them correctly and tighten them frequently, it's probably a non-issue.

Also, I prefer to use my own tablet and not whatever garbage Android POS they stuck in this. From what I can tell, you can't replace the tablet with something else, and if you don't use it, you get no displayed metrics.

So, I'm keeping my IC4 order, not that it matters if this is OOS anyway.

How sneaky! I totally thought it did due to the pictures of using the equipment and setting it up! My bad.
I agree, it totally looks like it comes with one, but doesn't Frown

The one I used to workout with at my work had a knob you set the resistance and then you set the resistance on a little mini computer to be the same, and it would tell you how many strokes you made, your cadence and an estimated number of calories.

Also based on the reviews there's an app that sets the resistance, so if you don't have a subscription or a device, it's basically useless.

Bought ours on Nov 28th. It's been stuck in shipping limbo in California. Hopefully you all have better luck.

You probably don't have to do ALL of the steps but post 405 on page 21 [xda-developers.com] has most of the steps I followed. I opted to install Nova Launcher instead of Lawnchair so I skipped Step 5 and 6 altogether and made Nova my default home app on Step 7. Steps 8-10 are possibly optional if you don't want the Peleton app right away have no desire to forcefully remove the Echelon software but YMMV on this. I had done most of the steps the first time and the Echelon app still fired back up and updated itself, which locked me out. At this point I had to start all over again with the factory reset and this time I just removed the Echelon app completely with Steps 9 and 10.

Steps 11-13 didn't work for me so that's why I opted to install the Amazon appstore, purchase qdomyos-zwift from there and install it that way. At this point you'll be limited to apps you can get through the Amazon store or things downloaded from sites like APKpure, the Apotoide app recommended on step 5 or something similar. I have not tried to put the Google appstore on the tablet yet so IDK if that's even an option.

It's possible that after changing your default home app in step 7 that you don't really need to do much else, but I can't confirm this. If you're able to keep the Echelon app from updating itself or opening up immediately after boot, you might be fine skipping everything else. But for me, the Echelon app was taking control and none of the navigation buttons (home, back and apps) would work until I totally removed the Echelon updater (first command under step 10).
Neither 0000 nor 1085 works for me now, all returns bad code. Anyone know the new password?

I think if you let it update, the update will change the password. You have to factory reset it.

Read the reviews on Costco.com… people claim you cannot change the resistance without the proprietary Echelon app basically forcing someone into paying for Echelon's subscription service.

IC4 from Schwinn literally advertises you can use the bike with Peloton.

This model has a manual resistance.

Their rower on Walmart and the bike from Costco uses magnetic resistance and are controlled via bluetooth from their app from what I understand ... but could be wrong.

I've read that there's a way to "freestyle" in their app by going through like 20 menu options so you don't have to pay, but I can't confirm that because I don't own either the magnetic bike or their rower.

I bought this on the original post from last week and setup the bike. Definitely recommend it for the price. I had issues getting adb to work so haven't been able to remove the echelon app but did load lawn chair. Haven't tried rebooting to see the behavior.

Honestly I tend to prefer using just the qdomyos app on my phone and it shows all the info I need. Resistance changes easily with the knob. I'd rather it not have the screen ultimately. I have the bike in a room with a TV already. I may try to get fully hack the tablet at some point but it meets my needs right now

I have the magnetic bike and rower from Walmart, both without screens. Resistance is manually adjustable on both and freestyle workout is easy to start in the app without a subscription.

I did the same as you - I pulled the trigger on the IC4, but with the price drop on the EX-4s+, I just cancelled my order on the IC4 and getting an EX-4s+
My IC4 from Target is already delivered and box is heavy, returning will be a task.
But tempted to get Echelon EX-4s+ from Costco as it seems to be a better bike overall. That's just may be my assumption and both bikes may be equally good. I am fine with putting my own tablet on IC4 when I exercise and I will be beginner on stationary bike.
I am confused right now what should I do. Is it worth an effort to return IC4 at target and get EX-4s+ from Costco?
