I also set mine up last week and managed to get the Echelon proprietary apps off the tablet using some of the information posted here [xda-developers.com]. Note that this is not a simple, quick or necessarily straightforward process, but the end result should be a tablet that still connects to the bike and can be configured with 3rd party apps.

I had no intention of using the Echelon app simply because 99% of it's functionality is tailored toward having a subscription. As soon as I saw the freestyle window as a full screen ad with a tiny stats bar at the bottom, I knew that app was coming off. There's supposed to be a way to re-load the Echelon app if you want to keep using it but I haven't figured that out yet.

I paid for the qdomyos-zwift app off the Amazon appstore and installed that on the tablet instead. It has a relatively basic interface but displays all the important info I need (cadence, speed, resistance level, etc.). It's also able to interact with the Peleton app if desired, which I hear good things about. For now, I have Plex & YouTube Vanced loaded on the tablet and run that with the qdomyos-zwift app in the background or in split screen.

EDIT: I was finally able to re-load the Echelon app after following step 5 on post 532 [xda-developers.com]. Installing the app this way allows you to do everything the stock Echelon app would (including update the bike itself) but will not firmware update the tablet and lock it back down in the process.
if you are interested in buying this or you've already bought it, check this thread out
https://forum.xda-developers.com/...m.4023915/

it shows you how to hack the echelon tablet to install the apps you like, and also to split the screen to display qdomyos-zwift and peleton app together, so you can enjoy the peleton app with a more reasonable monthly fee
YES! Right on time! I was running out of places to hang all my black Friday clothes.

Instore it is 499. I went and checked today. This price is lower than BF one. if your local costco has in store stock u should see it. Online is always $100 expensive for delivery and assembly.
Now i am juggling between this and walmart one lol.
Aha, I should check that at the local Costco tomorrow. yes I'm juggling between them too.

Got mine last Thursday and I am really enjoying it. Well built, super quiet, and with the help of some wonderful users on this site I got YouTube running on the tablet so I can just use instructor videos off that instead of paying a monthly fee. Seems like a good deal if you're just starting out.
The tablet seems to have a wall where it requires me to create an account and activate the bike. It comes with a free trial period (30 days).

Did you have to do this, or is there a way to bypass activation? Also, are the instruction for the youtube hack on the other thread?

Great bike and price (bought this in 2020 for $500)! It's study and reliable. i use it about 5 times a week consistently. I use qdomyoswift app to sync cadence and resistance to the peloton app ($13 mo). Great set up.

You don't need to buy a membership to use it. You can use the echelon app's freestyle section to track basic cadence/resistance.

The reviews for the EX-4s+ are terrible.

Not that I'm trying to hijack the thread, but I've been using this for years. It's $100 a year and absolutely amazing, best spinning workout subscription there is in my opinion. https://www.studiosweatondemand.com they also have Facebook groups and you can find some of their free workouts on YouTube.

I had the last version of this bike which connected to your phone. That full screen ad came on an update. I was pissed. The freestyle window used to be full screen stats. Then all of a sudden after an update the stats were crammed at the bottom for seemingly no reason as the rest of the screen was just black. A couple updates later and the ads appeared and I could barely read the stats while exercising. I vowed to never buy another Echelon again but I did like the bike so if I can strip the bike of that nonsense then... I might have to pull the trigger.

Has anyone tried the 30 day free membership?

I registered the bike, I think I got 30 days of fitpass which doesn't have access to cycling workouts. Wondering if there is any other way to get access to cycling classes.

On the hook between keeping IC4(delivered from target deal $450+ tax) or going for Echelon EX4S+ from costco. 1st time getting a spinning bike and not too keen on high subscription cost. Leaning toward EX4S due to costco over all service but also reading that IC4 is better built if you don't want all bells and whistles.
